Spray version of Mr.Surfacer is a primer, so it will give you rather smooth surface. To create non-slip coating with Mr.Surfacer you need to use liquid version, not spray, and airbrush it undiluted, as described in my article here on Armorama and on my website.

thanks vodnik for the reply.
i was thinking it would save some time if it did work thats all as it does not say primer. just 500/100 spary and the primer was a diffrent number .
thanks all the best.

if im not mistaken, the 500 spray isnt primer, it serves the same purpose as applying with an airbrush,

the 1200 is the primer.

at least i hope im right, ive got some 500 on order to non slip my chally 2!

cheers

500 from a rattle can is pretty much a primer. It will not texture your model too much. I bought some and sprayed it into a bottle and now put that through my airbrush. By doing this I have gotten the desired results.

If you ordered spray, than it will not work for non-slip coating unless you de-can it and run through airbrush, although it will probably be too thin this way to get rough enough coating. Mr.Surfacer 500 in a spray indeed works the same purpose as THINNED liquid Mr.Surface 500 appied through airbrush and this means smoothing the surface of the model. It acts like a primer, but also as a putty to smooth the surface.

Numbers after the name of Mr.Surfacer mean, at least in theory, the type of surface they can cover and make smooth. 500 can cover scrapes on the surfaced caused by 500 grit sandpaper, 1000 can cover scrapes from 1000 grit sandpaper and 1200 can cover scrapes from 1200 grit sandpaper.

P.S. in Britain where can you get Mr.Surfacer the liquid from?...halfords, diy shops, b&Q?

appreciate a reply
