Hi!
I don´t know about the DML Tigers, but if I was you I would try the new Tiger´s from Academy, specially the ones with interior, they´re the best OOTB in my opinion...

tank34boss,

DML is very good and very bad!

Really, their Nashorn/Hummel are not that great. But, DML has many, many excellent tracks. IS-I, IS-II, ISU-122, ISU-152, and I can go on. yes, their BMP's have some minor (my opinion) faults, but they are better than the above mentioned Germans.

DML makes the King Tigers and Jagdtigers (based on King Tiger chassis). They are very good kits and the Jagdtiger has eclipsed the old Tamiya Hunting Tiger. DML's Jagdtiger comes in both Porsche and Henschel variants.

Be careful, some DML kits are re-boxed kits from other manufacturers. The Bishop and Valentine are from VM and there are a few more reboxes. DML usually keeps the original manufacturer's logo somewhere on the box and adds their own logo as a sticker on the box.

I have the DML Maus, big kit and it looks impressive. DML kits have minute details and take care when assembling. Some of their newest German kits are the best around, the Panther A is getting rave reviews.

DML make some great kits!

I have built the StugIIIB, StugIV early, Brumbarr and some of their figures. The kits have independent track links, and nice detail. I really enjoy them. I have lots of others unbuilt in the closet.

The PzIII and Stug kits are all good. You get lots of extra parts, and they build up well.

Go for it!!

DML's kit as Dave had pointed out is both excellent and bad, Nashorn and Hummel is their very first kits, it needs a lot of work to make it accurate. I don't recall that DML has any Tiger I or King Tiger though. The Jagdtiger is great, I just built one, the fitting is good.

In my personal opinion, DML is the best money for value OTB build in the market if you are interested in German Armors. Individual track links, sometimes even comes with small PE parts. I had built maybe 7 to 8 DML German tank so far, and I never really encounter any serious fitting problem. Their Hetzer and Pz III series fits like a dream. Besides, they have a very big selection.

Highly recommended.

I have built the DML Ferdinand. It was one of the best fitting kits I have put together. I just ordered a Sd.Kfz.250/8 "NEU" Stummel by them and I have a Borgward IV that neds to be assembled. I think they are OK as long as you stick to their NEWER kits. I hope this helps..... Otto

Yep, DML Ferdinand and Elefant are both great. I am not sure about the Ferdinand, but the only mistakes that I can see for Elefant is 1. the hinge on the gunner's telescope hatch is backwards; 2. the tracks are wrong with an inverted "V". But all in all they are good kits.

Their Soviet stuff is fair; it is usually the only avaliable kit on the market. They were issued before the fall of the Soviet Union, and hence are not 100% accurate with relation to details. But they can be made into very nice kits, especially the wheeled armour.

DML and extra parts go hand-in-hand. If they need one or two parts off of another kit's sprue to finish a variant, they put the whole sprue in there. I got an Israeli M-51 Isherman and inside was the complete turret sprue for the M-50, just so a couple of small detail parts could be used. Same with the elusive M4A1 75mm Early Sherman. That box is chocked full of extra parts. Another kit, the M4A4(?), includes two sets of tracks because you need the end connectors off one set.

I also agree with the modern Soviet assessment. They built the kits when the actual vehicles were little more than rumors or fuzzy photos. Their BRDM series is nice, and the BRDM-2 was my first DML kit. I was impressed, but glue the hatches shut.

Speaking of Tigers, how is Academy's Tiger I early. Its in the bull pen behind an Italeri Jagdpanther and Alan Wespe. I know Sabot had said something about the Alan line before. I like the initial look of this SPG.

What are you waiting for?! Go out and try some DML kits!

Search the web for reviews of particular kits for some insight.

DML makes an awesome T34/85 kit! A bit hard to find the WWII version.

Just like Tamiya, they have some hits and misses.

Variety is the spice of life! Try DML, Academy, AFV Club. Spread the wealth a bit, keep those other manufactures making new products!
