I've just finished doing Tamiya's 1/35th Pzkpfw. III, a 1997 kit that I liked doing very much. At the moment, i'm working on the T-55A, which also seems to be of very high quality, with crisp detail and excellent definition. I'd like to do a Tiger next, but on looking at many of the available kits, I see that a lot of them are quite old. I've heard that the Tamiya 35216 TIGER 1 EARLY PRODUCTION is a pretty decent recreation of the Tiger's dimensions. However, it was cast in 1989, which is a little while ago now. It's always good to start with a solid kit, so I'd really appreciate some advice on what the best Tiger I kits are as far as accuracy and quality of moulding go.

Thanks a lot for any help.

I have never been unhappy with any of Tamiya's offerings. Any of Tamiya's newer Tigers would be a solid model to base a build upon. The older Tiger I and King Tiger kit's from the 70's may need some extra work, depending in how critical of accuracy you are.

I've got the Tamiya Afrika Tiger, and I think it is a great kit. I recommend it, plus it does not have any zimmerit to add.
