hiya marevic I love the way you painted your bridge the drybrush and choice of grey is exelent.
you put the green stuff on it but imho its to greenish maybe you can tone it down with a darker wash?
anyway great progress keep it up.
how are you planning on making the water?

thanks guys.
Juul, yes I agree, too green. Once it dries I intend
on doing some dark washes on it.
Hi Kevin. I made the sides of the bridge from the
one mold. I decided to do the arches 2 stones in width,
so I took about 5-6 mm for row. The arch stones are shown long ways as per reference photos.
I was originally planning on just putting the bridge "as is" on the base, but would be intrested if anyone could suggest a simple meathod to do the water.

Hi Marevic. Great bridge.Im so sorry i didnt build mines from plaster as I was too afraid to weather it with washes.
Yours on the other hand, would be a dream.
Here are two cool images that I saved at the time for weathering ideas. Hope they help.
The water method by layers of varnish paint will be perfect for this scene, as it gives the impression of deep water. Have something floating like a rusty barrel for further detail! Cut the barrel in half to show depth also. Build it up and place in the sink with water. See how it floats and then cut along this line.

PlasticBattle has given you great photos on doing some washes on the lower part of the bridge.
The bridge is nicely done, I like it. I especially like the way the base has the arches overhanging it.
Watch your seams on the figures the right leg of the rider looks a bit rough.
Make sure you secure the tarp to the bike with some thread (for rope). Make sure when you finally position the guys that the standing ones foot is flat on the ground.

thanks guys. (Especially for the great ref pics.)
As this is my first attempt at anything scratch built, the advice is truely appreciated.

Hi guys,
finally got to do some more work on the bridge this weekend. Strated some washes to simulate rain marks and darken the green. Not sure if the rain marks look convincing?!?!?! Also used some Kitty Litter to start the river bed.

Which direction are you going to go with the water? I think the kitty litter isnt quite right. What are you trying to portray?

Hi Kevin,
I was playing with the idea of getting a similar effect to the second photo provided by PlasticBattle. I'm looking at having the stones up toward the bridge with water flowing through the middle. I realise I will need to clear the middle a little and paint and weather the rocks. For water I'm going to attempt the gloss varnish technique.
(fingers crossed).
Thanks Nexy, but I'm not sure what you mean by "kvalitet"?

Nice progress and improvements. I like the darker green. The washes definitely are helping. I think that they are a bit uniform in width, vary that a bit on a couple of them. I would also do a bit of wash 'run off' along some of the tops of the rocks along the mortar lines, replicating a bit of 'pooling' before the rain spills over to the next rock.
Gotta be honest, I'm not sure how you are going to execute the water and it concerns me. The varnish method is very effective when you have a uniform 'flat' water surface and are depicting a uniform depth. By adding the kitty litter rocks you are creating varying depths and a visual expectation of 'tapering' just under the water surface. Visually your eye expects a V shape to the water bed.
Here's my concern - I've never done the varnish method and don't know how 'deep' you can get it to go. In my opinion I would want to see a bit of depth because of the rocks, even 3mm may become incredibly 'deep' if your varnish layers are not even .5mm thick.
As I always recommend with water techniques- TEST, TEST, TEST. Make a small kitchen foil base with a few 'rocks' along the edge and try it out on a small 1cm x 1cm base to get an idea.

Nexy, I agree with your suggestion and have been considering depicting something from the early war years. I just might try it with a Pz III. (by the way, answering your previous question, I am Australian born with a Croat back ground. But don't hold that against me)
Thanks Scott. I have to say, I still am at a bit of a loss
on how to do the water, or even what I'm trying to depict there. Luckily, the kitty litter is only attached to plastic card, and not the base or bridge, so trying again is no problem. I might try a few things out and see how it goes.
Again guys, thanks for the tips!!

very nice start.IMHO; the bridge is apiece of art for a scratch work. it may be for a quick shot but if not i think you should place the map in a better position.
congrats and plz keep us sending photos.
