Greetings all,
This vignette is to depict during Ardennes Offensive, somewhere in Poteau, an SS-Schutz machine gunner and a SS-Rottenfuhrer were sharing a captured American cigarettes and rations salvaged fron one of the M8 armored cars at the edge of the field. This captured M8 was one of the six armored cars from 18th Cavalry Squadron, 14th Cavalry Group abandoned on the road that day.
The SS-Schutz is wearing a captured G.I. rain poncho over his uniform and is also armed with a 9mm Browing High-Power pistol as a personal weapon.
All comments are welcomes, thank you

First, hello and welcome to Armorama. You have a wonderful dio going here the m8 is impecible. My only question is wasnt the ardennes offensive during december? The grass wouldnt be green and maybe there would be snow as well. The germans are in cold weather uniforms so maybe you could dull down the grass a bit or add a little snow. I dont mean to detract from this beautiful peice of work. Anyway its just my two cents worth. I commend you on a job well done. Cheers Kevin

Nice little dio!
One thing bugs me -- the unit markings on the M8 do not match your scenario. The unit codes on the rear end place this vehicle in the 25th Cavalry Squadron of the 4th Armored Division. The 4th AD entered the Bulge Dec. 20 from the south as part of the effort to relieve Bastogne. The 14th Cav Group was far to the north with the 106th Infantry Division.
EDIT: I did a Google for "Poteau, Belgium" and found this nice article by our own 210Cav, COL(Ret.) DJ Judge, on the 14th Cav Group in the Battle of the Bulge It's a good read, for those who are interested. http://www.14cav.org/g1-bulge.html

Nice neat effective dio you have there! As for the comment that it should contain snow, to the best of my knowledge (not necessarily saying much;) the 14th Cav. were routed on the first day or so of the offensive, and there wasn't snow there yet, but was just plenty cold... So it plays to be accurate also! If any gripe is to be had, mebbe some more dust/dirt over the wheels and lower body...otherwise, Well done.

a very well done model all round, however I do think that by december ther should be snow? well, i dont know, since i dont live in a country that snows, but from most of the photos i see from the battle of the bulge snow seems to be everywhere.

No snow at Poteau.
Check out the pics on this page: http://home.tiscali.be/poteau44/Poteau2En.html
German propaganda photographers used the amushed cav convoy at Poteau as a backdrop for a bunch of pics and movie footage. It's one of the most-documented episodes in the Bulge.

Hi Honeycut, ave and Hollowpoint, thank you for all your comments and supports. I am very much appreciate. As for ave, one thing for sure is that you and I are neighbour and we both live in a country that snow never fall. This dio was taken the refer from "Panzers - Ardennes Offensive 1944-45" by Concord Publication.
As for what Hollowpoint quote : No snow at Poteau. Thank you

Great model. What makes the thing great is the stowage. Did you do the detail with a wash, or did you paint the shadows by hand?

Hi PLMP110, thanks for viewing my little dio.
I applied washed for the shadows and as well as hand painted the details.
