I mated the Legend T-44 turret to the Tamiya M4 (35122) to create a M4A3 76mm. On the rear of the turret are several protrusions that I am trying to figure out. I believe the long angle iron items on the side of the turret are for a spare .50 cal barrel. Seems like a lot of space for just one barrel. Is there some other use this area served? Also the turret has a bulge in the rear from which a mount type items is placed. Is this an antenna base or is it for the .50 mount?
thanks

DJ,
the mounts held not only the barrel but the full .50 stripped down.

The mount on the bulge was for the .50 cal pintle when the gun was stored for travel.

Joe and Rob - - appreciate the feedback. Would anyone have photos of the stowed items?
thanks

Rob-- I would greatly appreciate any assistance. I trust Kencelot is doing well in Florida and not digging himself out from under a fallen roof. He usually has quite an impressive array of photos.
Once again I thank you for your help.

Now I understand about your question in the Grant thread.
Until someone sends you some better pics, have a look at the rear view of the Italian Sherman in the link

To stow the .50cal, the barrel is unscrewed and the pintle placed in the mount on the turret rear and clamped (the bulge is the turret vent fan cover). The end of the cooling jacket of the .50cal is fastened into the clamp on the left of the picture (the circular object fitted on a frame, in front of the window on the back wall). The barrel is fitted into the spring clips on the angle irons (these are just visible as small square fittings, one on each angle iron).
I hope this make some sort of sense.
If you're looking for the clamp, then most PE sets have them, or if you want to go plastic, the Dragon Firefly has one as a spare part (it includes a sprue from the M26, but only the .50cal is used from that).
