Achtung fellow Modeler's!
But seriously, I am in the beginning stages of planning an Afrika Korps Dio, and I am looking for any new or different techniques being tried and/or used by my modeling brethren, concerning sand/desert substrate for a base...I want to make Rommel proud of this one!!
any help will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Gunny

if you look through the diorama forum you might be able to draw some ideas from some dios, look in the flora & fauna section for desert foliage, good luck with the dio

I have used Woodland Scenics fine Yellow Grass turf sprinkled over Celluclay and fastened with diluted white glue to represent sand. Paint the result a medium sand color, wash with a darker brown and highlight with Model Masters Sand. The fine grind of the Yellow Grass does a pretty good job of representing sand. Sprinkle the Yellow grass on moderately. Use it to add texture, not to buld up the terrain.
