Todays update at Prime Portal includes a whole new set of OIF pictures including up armored Humvees, 5 ton gun trucks, and a M1117 ASV.
There are also 2 new M984 walk arounds that target the top of the unit and the crane arm.
The next update will include the YPR-765 in three different variants including the engine and interior!
But for now, check out What's New at Prime Portal.

Don- thanks for the update- but you might want to check the links on the Up-Armored HMMWV page. They're not sending to the indicated picture...
Also, any Idea what they used for armor on that 5-ton?
Gotta get me one of those ASV's!!

To your knowledge, is the M1117 Guardian ASV being fielded in OIF? There were only a small number of pre-production vehicles that were fielded to MP test platoons at Ft Hood and Germany. The program was ended due to the expense of acquisition of new vehicles, and that money being re-directed to OIF budget. I'd love to hear that they are being "evaluated" in Iraq!

Found this on Globalsecurity.org :
"Where the Soldiers in the first rotation in Iraq were perhaps unprepared for dealing with deadly roadside bombs and ambushes by plainclothes civilians, the Soldiers who took over were able to prepare with the benefit of lessons learned by their comrades in Iraq. Readying for its yearlong tour in Iraq, in early 2004 the 984th Military Police Company spent more time than usual familiarizing itself with its weapons, vehicles and tactics. Armed with the latest addition to the MP’s arsenal of vehicles, the M1117 Guardian Armored Security Vehicle, each team in the 984th carries more firepower than an entire infantry squad. The 984th was the first MP company on Fort Carson to get the new ASVs, each armed with an MK-19 grenade launcher, a .50-caliber machine gun and a squad automatic weapon. The Guardian is designed to be able to take a direct hit from an RPG and keep its crew alive. Whether the vehicle will make it through the hit is another story. In Iraq, one was hit from behind by an RPG and it pretty much took out the entire engine casing, but there were no deaths, no injuries. With better preparation than their predecessors and a dozen new ASVs, the 984th was better outfitted to take over the task of keeping the peace in Iraq than their compatriot MPs who were already there. "
I'm sure I've seen some OIF M1117s on Webshots.com but I can't remember in which album they were

Don,
again great pictures......
I have 1 request though... I don't know if you took the M984 pictures yourself, but would it be possible to have some pictures taken of the roof hatch when a gun ring is installed...
All the pictures I've seen until now are always with the anvas cover, but no pics without the cover, top view or from the inside....
Thanks in advance...

Johan, I will do my best to get those shots next week. The guys are heading out for a training weekend so I don't want to get in their way tomorrow.
I have had one other person request some more shots of the boom on the back of the 984.
If anyone else wants particular shots on this unit, just let me know and I will shoot them up next week.

Don,
it's no urgent matter, so don't get run over by one when trying to take some pictures of it...
At the moment I don't have other requests, anything you put up is fine by me...
I'll have some catching up to do in the weekend with all new pictures you uploaded the last few days....
Enjoy...

Marcel,
If the data plates on the vehicle are correct, it is a M984E1. I am trying to find out what the differences are between the A1 and E1 versions but as of yet, I don't know for certain.
I know there is a world of difference between a M984 and a M984E1. The original looked like the cargo HEMTT with a boom on the back.

Don,
Nice pictures. The Railroad to OIF pics are particularly interesting. I didn't realize how the chocked the wheels with those angled chocks. Good stuff!
