I have just about finished this mini diorama, but now I have a typical problem. I don't know when to stop!
I will have to complete the mud with some gloss varnish to make it shiny, but then I look and think "shall I put a roof over the MG nest? Should I fit figures or let the tank do the talking? Maybe a dead body next to the MG??" Any comments, suggestions are welkom.

Cheers
Henk

nice job. Looks very good, you could stop here if you wanted to.
I would add a bit more gear around the MG, give the impression of a hasty retreit. Also, I'd add some bullet holes on the front side of the logs.
I'd also add a bit more tan/light brown to the grass.

Nice dio you have there. I agree with Slodder on every point so no need to mention them again. If you do these you will have a excellent scene there. cheers Kevin

when you start thinking "it just needs a little bit more", that's when you should stop, that means now :-) Like someone said, a little bit of tan on the grass, Ice burns grass.

I like it, but I agree with the other guys, the grass is to green to have snow on it.

I don't really think it needs anything else. If I added anything then something the other side of the tank , purely as a visual balance.

Thanks all for your feed-back, that's just what I mean, If someone else looks at your work they'll spot the things you overlook yourself. I'll follow the advice and and a little detail to the MG area but not to much as it's really all about the finish of the tank. There is no great secret to the ice and gunk. I mix a brew of PVA glue (or elmers glue as I believe you call it in the USA), sand or railway scattermaterial, paint if required and dilute with water to get the right consistency to apply. This goes really for ice or mud. For runny mud I add more water, for sticky mud a little less. It wont really show when dry, but the difference is in the applying. Try to mimic reality, Ice usualy sticks to (cold) steel in great big clumps. I apply the mixture with an old brush with very short bristels, layer by layer. As for the grass, how could I miss that The base didn't start out as a winter dio, that's why. I'll make sure it will look very dead when finished!
Ooh and when taking photo's of snow scenes, try to take picture with quite stark light, as that really brings out the cold temprature of the white.

Once again thanks for your input.

Cheers
