That is an awsome looking Hetzer I love the camo on it How did you tone it down? I have always shied away from doing camo on German armor Also what type of tracks did you use?

Kenaz,
'Enjoy' isn't the word. 'Amazed' is more like it.
Great work on the mud and grass. That is a look I have strived for, but haven't attained yet.
I take it that the handholds, muffler screen, straps, etc., are all PE or scratchbuilt? How about the casting numbers on the gun assembly(?)
Again, congrats. It may be gone from your shelf, but you have the photos to look back on.
So what's next?

Care to share your mud technique? It really makes this one look authentic. Thanks.

Hi generalzod thanks mate!

the tracks are fruilmodeli hetzer early
awsome tracks! but expensive !
the camo is vallejo acrylics its toned with a very light wash of oils -burnt sienna and black 75/25 ratio
then when dry darker heavier mix around details
then mig pigments to finish ,in russian earth and black 50/50 dry , then mig rust pigments streaked a little with thinners again ,glad you like it ! many thanks for the kind words! K

hi Keith thanks for the compliments ,mate ,yeah thank god for cameras eh?
all the fine stuff , exhaust guard ,foliage loops, hand holds, etc.. are from aber 's hetzer early set its a great set ,the casting numbers are a model railroad item
in injection plastic, theyre just like the etched ones ,only half the price ,and really easy to apply with liquid solvent! they even come on a tiny sprue! so whats next??? hmmm... well i just finished building tristars panzer 1 /a i want to do that in an afrika scheme ,and i'm really looking forward to doing my dragon sdkfz 251/c ! good luck with your projects mate!

Hi Steve thanks for your kind words
as for the mud, sure i'll share it! its ordinary houshold water proof tile grout!
and i mixed in a couple of good pinches of static grass (add to taste) :-)
this is then just stippled on in layers to the affected areas , just enough to look crusty but not too much so as too obliterate details
simple as that mate!
i believe a very good company called jadare.com has developed thier own brand of water based mud applique designed for models ,under the range "scorched earth" i believe its excellent to use! thanks again mate! K

Very nice. The bits of grass are an excellent touch.

Since you loved it so much, get another one and have one for yourself! Not only that, but you can add on to what you did as well as correct any mistakes or revise any of the things you did for your other Hetzer. Awesome job. Whoever got it is definitely going to enjoy it.

thanks ian!
i'm glad you like it!

the colours used were vallejo model colours sand(this is almost identical to tamiya dark yellow)
and games workshops bestial brown
(the brick red colour)
these colours are quit bright when first air brushed
but subtle washes with oils bring it all in together leaving a livley colour scheme thats not dead!

thanks again ian K

Beautiful Hetzer! I like the mud/grass effect.
Aside from the tracks, was this built OOB or did you modify it in some way?

Awesome build and weathering! I'm not surprised the customer (lucky person!) was overwhelmed, as I certainly am just from the pictures. I am greatly looking forward to see more, especially the next generation of Hetzers
