Well there aren,t very many pictures out there of this baby in action ..we've all seen the picture staight on looking at the front of the TD No markings are visable ,which is quite common by the spring of 45...
The info I have on that vehicle says it is from the 654th TD battalion in Rheinberg Germany on the 6th of March 45..

I know it doesn't help much but..

From October to December 1944, Fisher manufactured 187 of the M36B1, so as Richard said not many units had them. There doesn't seem to have been any effort made to form battalions equipped uniformly with the M36B1, rather they were integrated into existing units. Some of the units which employed them included the 605th, 654th, 705th, and 813th Tank Destroyer Battalions.

I also found on a website listing "M36" (no subvariants) equipped units: 601st (served in Tunisia, Sicily, and Italy with M3 and M10), 607th, 610th, 628th, 630th, 645th (served in Italy with M10), 654th, 691st, 703rd, 771st, 773rd, 774th, 776th (served in Tunisia and Italy with M10), 803rd, 808th, 809th, 813th (served in Tunisia and Sicily with M3 and M10), 814th, 818th, 899th (served in Tunisia with M10).

So, you have a few to choose from, but all I know that equipped the B1 variant are those listed at the top.
