HI...
I'm not sure whether this post should go here or in aircraft...but as there are more truck fans loitering within this section it might prove a good bet...lol.

Just got 2 kits
Matador 1/72nd
Opel Blitz 3 ton fuel tanker
Hanomag R40 tractor.

I ask for advise please.
What colour scheme should they be?
Mid to late war European theatre, Luftwaffe.
Was the dark yellow applied to Luftwaffe vehicles too or should I go for grey?

Many thanks in advance and I'm sure I'll have many more help questions...lol.

Cheers
Peter

H E L P P P P P !

Any info, no matter how small will be a great help.
I'm new to all this AFV/Truck stuff.
I don't even know what colour the chassis would be ....or the seat cushions...or the interior of the cab etc...never mind the actual camo scheme....

Hoping....
Cheers

Can't really help Peter. As I recall most of the Luftwaffe vehicles I have seen were grey. Although I imagine that those employed with the Afrika Corps were desertised. I have seen some with a disruptive green overspray too, but that could be just a Hollywood interpretation. Those in use today tend to be the generic dark green of all german armed forces. Nothing much on Google either. Sorry.

Thanks Shaun....
your thoughts correspond to mine, but I have a feeling these kind of vehicles went dark yellow along with the armour stuff, late in the war...???
Although by then, the paint supplies were not exactly abundant or efficiently delivered, so maybe the grey schemes lived on a while longer for European based airfield vehicles.

But with no real info I'm beginning to sway in favour of the grey even if it might not be accurate. I could add a bit of artistic license and add some green and red-brown to sort of split the difference between the schemes.
I'm sure the real ground crews responsible for painting to new RLM directives faced similar dilemas....lol.
But this is getting a bit too real for me...lol.

Thanks again and cheers
Peter

Sorry Peter missed this thread earlier. The vehicles did turn to the dark yellow later in the war but most would have been the Panzer Grey. Main reason for this is the army got most of the new vehicles as they came off the production line whereas most airfields already had their vehicles.

Now with this post I have made 1999 posts. If my failing memory serves me right it was a good year but I don't know about this post :-)
