Is the Tamiya M26 Pershing kit suitable for a Korean War M26? Or do I need the Dragon kit for that?
Thanks
Rob

I believe that the Tamiya kit has some optional parts for a Korean War version.

Yes, it is suitable for Korean War version. The USMC markings and one of the US Army markings are for the Korean War.

There are a few things missing to make it a Korean war version out of the box ...the turnbuckles on the fenders are missing and you also need to check some of the details on the turret and type of tracks used on each Pershing as there were 3 types of tracks used . This is a great kit and have fun with it..

If you are looking to do a Korean war tank, you might want to go with Dragon M-46 a very similar tank. Personally, I have both the Tamiya -26 and the Dragon M-46. Hell !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Build them BOTH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or the Dragon M26A1.
OOTB, the Tamiya kit is pretty much a T26E3 -- more suitable for WWII, not Korea. M26s in Korea had a different gun travel lock and a bore evacuator on the barrel, as well as the turnbuckles on the fenders.

Rob:
Are you going to the West Central Missouri IPMS contest tomorrow at Vatterott College? Even if you don't enter, it's a great way to see some super models, check out the vendors and meet some other modelers.
Vatterott is over by the Truman Sports Complex. Here's a link to more info: http://warshipmodels.com/ipms-wcmo/2004-contest/2004_index.html
KC AMPS is having a regional at the same place next month -- Oct. 16.
I'm easy to spot because I wear a Green Bay Packers ball cap. Anders Heintz and possibly some others from Armorama will be there. Hope to meet you there!

Bob,
No sorry I missed that one due to a scheduling conflict per usual (I work every second week on call). I would love to meet you and some other KC area modelers as I have been starving for some folks to talk plastic with since I left the East coast last year. Charlie (Tuna), Robin, Robert and the gang back in Mass still talk with me in chatrooms and IMs and thats kept me sane.
If you don't mind please email or PM me and let me know what is coming up for Oct and Nov and I will do my best to kick myself out of the house and go. I can give you my phone numbers and such also if you want them.
