Hi guys
I have the verlinden sherman stowage set (no 1808) on it's way and was wondering if I could legitimately put the sandbags etc on the hull glacis plate of my M4A3 76 w?

I don't see why not. Tankers tend to stuff everything they can for protection and creature comforts on their vehicles

You can put sandbags on an M4A3 but not with what you have on hand...

Verlinden 1808 is designed for the Tamiya M4 kit which has a completely different glacis than the M4A3. I believe Custom Dioramics and Blast Models has a resin sandbag arrangement for the M4A3s.

hi, maybe you could make your sandbags yourself with sculpting putty like milliput (etc..).It's really easy and works well
and it fits on everything

If you get the older Osprey Vanguard of the Sherman in US and Allied service or the Squadron book, there's a few examples of the type with lots of sandbags. One comes to mind of the vehicles of the 14th Armored Division.

Stormbringer, I agree with lordQ... Once you start to make milliput sandbags though, I've found that I had become hooked, and actually looked forward to the part of making sandbags more than any other point in construction... :-) Nothing better than having them fit perfect and mould to wherever you want or require them. Best to have a smaller than a larger size I've found, so you can include other 'soft' armour like spare track etc. Have even moulded a sandbag burst and leaking as though hit by small arms fire, with the help of some tiny ripped cloth moulded in initially... Hope this sways you to getting extra creative

Check out Legend Products available throught Mission Models for a superb sandbag set with a turret that you can put on the Tamiya M4. I am building it now and will post photos of where I am so far.

I second that opinion, I'm also working on this particular conversion set for the Tamiya M4A3.
Also Ospreys' M4 76mm book has several pictures of sandbagged Shermans from the U.S. 14th Armored Div. in NW Europe and Germany. Apparently the Legend models kit was based on those tanks. According to the Osprey book, 14th Armored used the sandbag uparmor as standard SOP on all their Shermans whether armed with a 75mm or 76mm gun.
