I have uploaded a series of 12 photographs of a Special Forces Hummer that I had taken during my tour of duty in OIF 1. I hope you guys find these useful.

Sweet pics! Good to have them on the computer, after seeing all your pictures the other day I have decided to do a Humvee from OIF sometime in the near future!

Great pics.
I spent six months in Baghdad and rarely did I see one Humvee that looked the same as the next one. The amount of individual vehicle modification is staggering and I'm wondering if this practice occurs in home locations or does it only occur whilst on deployment.
I started building Tamiya's new Humvee before I left and now that I'm back I've put it aside in order to gather enough reference to model a particular vehicle, given the extent of vehicle mod's I saw.

Very useful pictures there are alot of superdetailing ideas that can be done there. I have taken a special interest in the hummers for some reason. I can not get enough of them. I am working on getting my 11 tamiya hummvee.
So Thanks for the picture post hopefully one day I can build one like that.
Thanks again
Happy Modeling

Your photos have just give me the information i needed to start building a SF Hummer. i know that there are not two vehicles which are the same. I have been looking for good photos providing information on the rear of the vehicle. From the shots i had i wasn't sure if the vehicle had an infill panel behind the rear passenger seats.
How do i make the side rails is my next question they seem to be folded profile rail, similar to the principals used in cladded buildings.
I have noticed that someone is advertising a conversion kit for the Tamiya model (called a Dumvee.)
Any one got any ideas for those side rails.

Cookie,
I saw the development version of the Dumvee conversion set by Pro Art Models, at the time it was only a preview as the complete set is not yet ready...
It will contain basic items to convert a Tamiya Humvee into a Special Ops vehicle, but maybe not all items you saw on the pictures of sgtsauer.
I do not know on which vehicle exactly the set was based, as about every vehicle has custom modifications to some extend....
The set will roughly consist of a front fender winch, modified weapons ring, lower chassis armor, internal floor armor, Sincgars radio, modified seats, modified cargo door, stowage and "aggressive pattern" tyres (licensed from Blast).
This description of the set is based on the preview model I saw at Euromilitaire 2 weeks ago, the set was to be ready at the beginning of octobre, so I will normally have more info after 10 octobre because Pro Art will be attending our Model show (more info http://home.tiscali.be/moveleo)

Hi there Cookie. Last year I made a dio depicting SF snipers in Iraq with a Humvee. There wasn't any conversion set available then & I just based my build on whatever reference photos I could get. As for the side rails on the Humvee I used a 5/32 & .080" Styrene Channel. All of the stowage rack on this Humvee was scratchbuilt using sheet & channel styrene.
You can check out some more of this photos in my gallery.

Thanks guys for the replies about the Humvee, great information. I have been smitten with the urge to buid a US SF Hummer and i have been searching for details and information for some time now. We dont see many of these vehicles on the roads here in Northern Ireland. All at once i get loads of information which i hope will now inspire me to complete the project before long.

Those tires look like TSL IROK. I wonder if they are actually better in sand than the standard issue tire, or if the SF guys bought them for the "Look Cool & Different Factor".
