Hi guys

Tread, Fine Scale did an article some months back on scratch building an ammo tralier for the Sherman. I have the article. if you want a copy let me know, and I'll send it out.
Andrew, what is "British Pathe", and do they have anymore like this one? [great pic]

Link to British Pathe, a digital news archive. You can do searches using keywords e.g. Sherman. They have stills and newsreel footage.

Harry,
British pathe is exactly what Mike said. I prefer doing broad searches like "american troops" and using the advanced search section which allows you to narrow down time periods.

Howdy Andrew,

Almost missed this one (thx for the wee 'reminder' ).

Thanks alot for the pic. It really helps, since just about all of the other shots I have of Shermans towing things are shot from a frontal 3/4's angle, and not from the rear. Good on ya.

One of the instance's of just about EVERYTHING towing something else is something one of the other members mentioned some time ago, can't remember the name right now , but it was called the 'something' Circus. Where the Allies, in a mad dash tried to move as much material as was humanly possible to the Front. All manner of vehicular configurations were hodge-podged together just to get the stuff moved!

Maybe one of the members here can remember what I'm talking about?? And then maybe I can use your 'British pathe' source to take a whack at trying to find any pictures of said event......

Thx again Andrew.

Tread.

EDIT: "...Hey threadhead, hurry up before Shermiesrule builds it first...."

you ain't whistling 'Dixie' there DRAGONSLAIN. ;-)

HEHE :-) That was me Tread, It was the ragtag Circus nick name for the 329th Infantry, Some of the weirdest vehicles they used were buses and fire engines.

Howdy fellas,

"...HEHE That was me Tread, It was the ragtag Circus..."

lmao, sorry I couldn't remember who told me, glad you remembered!

Tried a search for 'rag tag circus' over at this British Pathe, came up empty. Guess I'll have to keep looking. Maybe I'll try the 329th as a search.....

Thx again sir!

Tread.

Gordon,
I don't think the ragtag circus was a very widely used term for the 329th.
If I remember correctly it was given to them by some newspaper reporter who was travelling with them
