Another dio idea came when I saw the Tamiya German field kitchen set with a few figures and a chef. Instantly I recalled seeing a set of two resin cows by Verlinden(I think) and the theme developed.

I´ll move on with this when I´m able to put in the 50 euros for the kits (Of course it´s more about the fact that I have all the stuff for four next projects ready!)
Anyway, here´s a sketch without figures. There will be one guy playfully telling the cow to "Get in line!" if she wants anything! The setting will take place somewhere in France.

Toni

PS. These ideas keep coming quicker than I can response to them. There are a bunch of sketches ready but no idea when to get to those...I may have to be more selective from now on! Oh and I´m putting up a sketch gallery as soon as I can get good scans of the drawings so far.

Hi Tony,

One more nice sketch.

If you only need a cow you can check - http://www.mk35.com go to CATALOGUE then FIGURES at lhe left Menu and then choose Figures - Animals at the drop down menu, there you have two cows one standing and one lying down.

Or you can get the TAMIYA Livestock set.

Well Toni, what You should do is prepare a book for diorama builders. Seriously! I think it could be great to edit a diorama sketch book with about 20-30 scenes like that. The first 5 get explained and built step by step, the other sketches are "homework" for the readers (list of recomended products included). This would be a very creative kind of workshop-book, wouldn´t it? Would be at least a modeling-guide that put Your own phantasy into work ...
By the way: If you look at mk35.com, there You find a beautyful black and white resin cow for 10 Euros - and Tamyias first Field-Kitchen-release they sell in ebay Germany for 10 Euros, too.

Heh. Thanks for the confidence! Maybe I try to learn a bit more myself before making any further suggestions to others what to do...Especially this is a place where it´s easy to remember where you stand . But maybe there would be a point in a beginner making a book for beginners while all the new stuff and first difficulties are still everyday´s news...
This book thing is something I´ve been thinking of. I´m about to finish my master´s degree in graphic design in the next few years and a modeling-related book would be a killer for a graduation work .
I just have to go for it pretty soon because it´ll take a long time to build those dioramas for that project, whatever it will be!

Oh and I found another thread dealing with cows: 1:35 cows
I saw this and I remembered seeing good-looking toy cows (about the right scale) in our own grocery store! Price: 1,40 euro! It could work with some adjusting...
The good part along with the price is that it´s not a recognizable model product!

Hi Tony,

I think Ralf's idea is a good one. Yours sketches are very good as yours finished dios you had showed us.

Perhaps you can try an electronic book as KFMagee is doing.

Hey Toni!,

I just picked up that field kitchen set, and wow, Tamiya has done well on the character of the faces, very well done indeed. Can't wait to put it into a small scene!

That could be handy I bet!
But there is something more. As Armorama has shown the Interenet and digital environment is a good place to share easilly and really fast any kind of info.
My goals are, however, related to a wonderful piece of printed media. I want to do this book, select the paper it´s printed on, select the typefaces and make the layout. Plus have some good ol´ studio sessions with the dioramas and try creating beautiful scene pictures without any digital manipulation. And have the whole book printed in the best possible print house. There is nothing like the smell of fresh printing ink early in the morning...
There´s my dream and I´m sticking to it!

Hi Toni,

I think the thing is there are already a bunch of us here at the Armorama whom would love to have a book of yours, (me included ) So maybe we can sign a petition thing, and you can take to a publish house say "Here you go, publish the book for me, I know these many people will buy the book already!" :-)

Then before long, people will say, Hey I did that Dio the Sergeant Envar way

Snif....snif..
That sounds so beautiful...Though I think the "Sergeant Envar Way" would be a way of making things of toilet paper and women´s pantyhose rather than plaster kits from Verlinden! #:-) #:-) #:-)

Thanks guys!

If it works very fine as we can see, sure it's a good way to use. There are a lot of us that can't get Verlinden stuff easily.

Toni,

Already told you some times how much I admire your work. I really think you should consider the idea of making a book. I really think you can do this. Maybe make som bucks too..
