Well I still have not finished my Search and Destroy dio. Took another break from it and started this one. Let me know how the layout looks so far. I have been changing it around for about an hour now thought I would let you folks take a look. The figures you see here will not be used in this dio it will be a noncombat dio. More of relaxed setting. And it will also have sound to it. Im adding a small speaker under the base. I have some recordings from the AFVN ( Armed Forces Vietnam Network) and a few songs from the era. I have scratchbuilt loud speakers but I will tell yaw about them in another post.

Hi Keenan

I am curious as to what kind of figures you have planned for your dio -- please let us know.

You have an interesting concept here, with a lot of space for you to work with. Are the sandbag bunkers something you scratched or are they purchased items? Keep us posted.

Wow - BIG....
Where are you going to store that?

So far it looks good. One thought, if you add speakers under it it's not only wide but it will be Tall. Maybe you can try to put a speaker in the bunker behind the 113

What are your plans for the space in front, that will need quite a bit of attention.

Well the speaker I have is only about a inch and a half thick and probably two inches round.

Wow, this is gonna be a big one. Looking good so far PFC. For the front, you could put a helicopter landing pad.

yeah a chopper pad with a chopper and crew fixing it up would be awesome to fill that extra space, maybe some gay tanks or barrell and a willy jeep?

That is going to be interesting to see how it turns out. I have always wanted to do a Nam dio but thought the foilage would be to complex and hard. I have a book on Nam it shows the firebases and how they were constucted and have thought of doing a firebase but haven't been insired yet to do something that big.

So I'll watch how yours turns out and maybe I'll take a crack at one yours looks great so far.

Can not wait to see updates.

Happy Modeling

Keenan, i think this is going to turn out great, i have also long wanted to try out the "speaker" trick and have some songs playing (infact it will be included in one of my dio's im working on).
only thing i would change.
they would most likely have cut any palms down that were growing inside the base, especially if right beside bunkers, you can only imagine what would happen if a shell was to land nearby and that thing came falling down on top of you pit!
cheers mate, keep us posted!
