MMiR 36 (page 57) has an advertisement from RHPS Models in Ohio on their WT49 Three bar cleat individual link track set for $19.95. Has anyone had experience with their products and can give us a rundown on the items?
thanks

DJ..
I have just recently used RHPS M4 Sherman Track set,
and for 20 bucks they are definately worth it... The tracks are molded in a medium gray plastic and quite easy to work with, not too brittle. The end connecter detail is very good, too. The set that I got assembled without glue but they reccomend gluing if the piece is going to be handled alot. Also the molding quality is very good...All in all, definately worth trying out...

RHPS probably makes the best and easiest-to-assemble indy-link Sherman track sets on the market. They literally snap together and no glue is needed. (Assemble them before painting.) Each set gives lots of extra links and end connectors, so if you mess up a few, it's not a big deal. There is a bit of clean-up involved, but not more than any other set out there.
I recommend -- they are a great value for the price.

Sir, err, DJ,
I have that track set and the links are nice but the end connectors can be undermolded. Take your time and you will have a nice set of tracks. A trick that I have found to keep the end connectors on and fitting tightly is to slightly squeeze the track pins with pliers to make them a bit oval and the end connectors will fit tightly.

That's a bloody good idea. Another is if you find the pins and connectors to be a bit loose, try painting the tracks before assembling them. If you airbrush the paint, it should be thin enough to add just enough diameter to the pins to tighten the fit the right amount. It's also much easier to make sure you don't dry brush metal paint onto the rubber pads, as well!
Take your pick....
