Heck, I'm a modern armor builder and my German armor stash is about double yours.
Here's my "Tiger only" list:
1/16 Tamiya Tiger I full R/C kit
1/16 Tamiya Tiger II Henschel motorized kit
1/25 Tamiya Tiger I w/interior
1/35 Tamiya Tiger I Afrika Korps
1/35 Tamiya Hunting Tiger
1/35 Italeri Tiger I Ausf. E/H1
1/72 Hasegawa Tiger I Ausf. E
1/72 AMC Bergepanzer Tiger SdKfz 185
1/72 Revell Tiger I Ausf. H

1/72 Revell Tiger II Ausf. B
1/72 Dragon Sturm Tiger Morser
1/72 Dragon Tiger I Ausf. E Late

The sign of the poor is him who collects italery kits
I must say that if I pay a small fortune for a plastic kit, I would expect all the plastic to be there. I don't like filling holes in the bottom or under the sponsons (Tamiya Shermans ) Italieri maybe cheap (but hey, so am I) but you get nicely molded, crisply detailed models that would not emmbarres you at any showing. If I build a Italieri model I'm also fairly confident that the scale proportions are correct, something Tamiya still doesn't seem to find a priority. I know that in the seventies a motorized tank was the toy to have, but not anymore. And before you start, I know that the re-issues dont have the holes in the bottom anymore, but does filling in a few gaps justify the pricehikes of Tamiya? I have seen the same Tank (I think it was a Churchill, but I'm not sure ) in a shop, old issue and the re-issue, with a price difference of almost £ 10.
On average an Italieri model will save you £ 10-15 over Tamiya. You have a hondered models in your stash, thats £ 1000. .
Don't get me wrong, I build Tamiya, but if I have a choice between both for the same model, I probably by Italieri. Told you I'm cheap.
Cheers

I primarily buy Tamiya becuase that is where I live for now, I don't have to worry about the price hikes here.

I'm a poor man, cause I collect Italeri, but the most I paid for one was 13 dollars, down to 3 dollars. Some of them require a little extra work.
Then some are well built, and go together with hardly any work at all, and I have seen some of them, that they make the same as Tamiya, but the Italeri has better detail, and for a lot less money.
I myself, I like the small flaws in them, that is what makes a good modeler out of you, overcoming the small problems is what it is all about, it builds your confidence to go on to do bigger things.
Without them, what have you learned, you slapped some pieces together, then grab the next box, and repeat the samething over again.
Yes 40 to 50 dollars a box will give you that, but will you ever learn to go on and build your own pieces, or models.

Not only men of good taste, but wealthy as well. The sign of the poor is him who collects italery kits :-)
Well, when you want to build one of the numerous artillery (M108, M109, M110 etc…) subjects that only Italeri (few reboxed by Matchbox, Testors and Revell) does or some of the German heavy armoured cars or ESCI’s great M-60’s and last, but not least a Boeing X-32 JSF, which other company do you use?
I am presently building a Boeing X-32 JSF from Tamiya, actually it is the Italeri offering reboxed. Now does that show Tamiya’s taste or Italeri’s lack thereof?
Actually I have anything from Academy right through to Zvezda in my stash, I build the subject not the company name.

I didn't try to praise tamiya or put italery down, just saying you'll spend considerably more with tamiya.

Hey we know that, us poor people don't take these things to serious. But on a side note, howabout a 'groupbuild' where people use the same kit, same brand, no AM parts, NO PE. Just the plastic in the box and you're painting skills. For example the Italieri Demag with Pak. Basic kit, bit rough round the edges, but the basic vehicle is there. Anybody can glue that toghether, all down to painting skills then.
Well?
Well?

Relax Dragonslain, you’ll live longer! We are just fooling around, off-handed comments always get these returns. Actually at present my stash is getting an Academy boost (pity it isn’t an AFV Club boost) as I found a local cheap source.
