I can understand the enthusiasm shown for a release of this type from AFV Club, however it is tinged with a doubt in that AFV Club have obtained their reputation by thinking a bit more laterally than other manufacturers... I just hope that AFV will be a bit more 'ahem' imaginative in their future releases...Jim

We really really need new tooling of American Halftracks.. All types..
Personally i'm hoping Dragon/DML takes up this challenge

I second that emotion Delbert. Enough with the dang 251's already...everybody and their mother is making one. I understand there were 20 something versions and all. But where are the american half tracks. Or some of the other, more obscure, allied AFVs (WWII of course) etc. Enough already. I'm fine with someone trying to produce an accurate kit and all...but how many Tigers, Pz IVs, King Tigers, (*cough*shermans) and 251s do we need?? Sorry....just venting. Flame away if you wish (especially on the shermie subj.) I want a new M3 Half track!!!!

As someone pointed out at Missing-Lynx, it could well be that AFV club has done this Tiger in order to obtain a cash-cow... to finance R & D of future models that do not sell that well. He pointed out that DML uses action figures for that purpose. Besides the fact that some are of the opinion that DML and AFV Club have engaged in a pissing contest...

Well, if you visit AFV Club / Hobby Fan website you would immediately notice that plastic / resin models are not their main business anyway:

Hooray, hooray! Another Tiger! I think it's cool to see other companies putting out their verisons of AFV's (even if it's ANOTHER Tiger, ANOTHER Sherman,...etc) I'll have to get my hands on this one when it comes out, I do however like the idea of having more obscure vehicles come out, like say a Bergtiger, or how about that Scammel that AA has got out....I want that, but no way on earth I can afford that puppy! :-)

Outstanding idea, with lots of extras. I wonder if the cost of the P-E and alum barrel will make the kit to costly? I also enjoyed the other things the site said were on the production lines. Lots of versions of the 251 are a welcome thing!

I think it is right that they are doing another tiger, there are not enough choices: the only choice right now is Tamiya, the Italery one needs a lot of work, the Academy ones are fine too, but we still need one from DML, and some cheap ones from Trumpeter, and of course we'll have the AFV club one with PE and metal barrel! we need more variants! :-) :-) :-) (kidding)

YAY!
I can finally put the Tamiya Tigers for sale cheap on e-bay. That may seem like blasphemy to some modellers out there, I am learning that they are not the be all and end all of this hobby. So when another company does something better(hopefully) than Tamiya it is something to celebrate and I have plenty to celebrate lately. #:-) (:-)
AFV Club, Dragon, Alan and Tristar have made me very happy lately, and I know a few people who have entered this hobby because of all the new choices.
So welcome new Tiger, new German halftracks and other amazing stuff.

As I said before - hopefully this will not mean that AFV Club will become another of the 'mainstream' companies churning out new releases. A company thet was built on imagination doesn't need to go down this road unless it's going to finance the prototypes that modellers want...Jim

No Paul, we're not complaining all we're asking for are some more imaginative releases. You certainly wouldn't hear me complaining over early-war German Vehicles...Jim

Hmmm... Jimbo... see the little happy icon..?.. that means I was joking, which is pretty obvious. No offence intended. After all, this _is_ the friendliest site right? No need to get all worked up, we're all friends.

Well the one dragon have announced is one of those exotic panzers everyone wants to see, the VK4501(P) Porsche prototype tiger.
But a lot of people are right asying we need some diversity in releases i.e. M2/3 halftracks amongst others, in this respect Trumpeter are to be applauded who else would have the balls to release half the things they have apart from the resin makers who then go and charge a price so high you need to re-mortgage your house to afford.

DML also are making the Tiget I early in addition to this Vk45.01(P). AND a new Tiger II is coming out too!

Dragon will probably release this halftrack. The evidence of the strange cigar-smoking US driver figure accidently published on their site, which is now gone, instead of the Sd.Kfz. 251 driver figure sort of proved the previous rumours.

I think that was the same thought of a certain Austrian Corporal! And see where that got him.
