Many of you saw when a few of us did a "mini" build of Dragon T-34 kits on the armor forum a few months ago. I said I would post when it was finished, so here it is...

This is a diorama recently completed by myself and my partner, Ray Weber. (We are AKA the Visor Brothers)

The Diorama features a basswood base, a Dragon 1/35 T-34 tank, Friul tracks, Moskit metal exhausts, MV headlight lenses, Warriors Figures, metal Hedgehog figure , and scenery done with styrofoam/celluclay base with assorted products for trees, bushes, rocks, logs, trees, etc... Base painting for the scenery was Tamiya acrylics with enamel and oil weathering, shadowing, and highlighting. Heavy snow is thinned Lightweight Hydrocal, and the light snow is baking soda. One tree is Woodland scenics and the other two are made from Verlinden, Woodland Scenics, and floral materials. Logs are real wood.

We were fortunate enough to win a Gold Medal with this Diorama a few days ago at the IPMS SLC chapters annual contest, the Gathering, in Layton, Utah. We were also awarded with a special award for the "Most Detailed" entry.

Hope you like it. You can see more shots in my gallery.

It is a scenery product, I am pretty sure the company marketing it (Dont remember who, sorry) is making it from old paint brush bristles...

HTH a little...

In one word, Spectacular! I really like the irregularity of the terrain and the figures. How did you paint the eyes? Were you using a microscope? I am doing a Soviet tanker in 1/35 and just can't get the eyes right.

The figures are courtesy of my very talented partner, Ray Weber, who is a true artist.

To answer your question, he, like me, uses an Opti-Visor while detailing and detail painting. (Hence, the Visor Brothers - trust me, when you have been working every night for a week and a half and it is 2 am, it is pretty darn funny to look up at each other through these things...) :-) :-)

He uses Humbrol enamels exclusively for the figures, with blending of highlights and shadows done with oils and oil/enamel combinations. The rest is god-given talent.

I am the vehicle guy, and we worked on the scenery together.

HTH

Well, we are partners and work well together. We plan on more competitions in the future and have two much larger dioramas in the works. The awards simply go in the display case along with the work...

I agree with you on the figures, the lambskin my partner did on the coats is beautiful. Ray, my partner is really the talented one. He is a real artist, and his faces really look even better in person than in these super hi def photos...

Thank you for your comments on the weathering on the tank. I spent nearly as much time on the weathering on this piece as I did the construction and paint. It is actually not really 100% complete yet. I still need to do a couple more things to it...

Thanks again for the compliments, you are very kind. I will pass them along to Ray.

Brian, Kevin,

Thank you for your kind comments. We appreciate the compliments immensely. Hope to have more work to show here in the future.

Brian, the Gathering is always a lot of fun. I have been going every year since about 1995 or 1996. I haven't competed since 1997 until this year but I was very fortunate that our project here did very well. I hope to see you there next year.

Best Regards,

Scott Gentry
