Academy confirmed that new 1/35 M551 Sheridan kit is coming from them in 4th quarter 2004: http://www.academy.co.kr/en2/new_item3.html.
I wonder what version are they going to release first? Vietnam or more modern one? Or maybe parts for both will be included in one kit? Picture on Academy website shows Vietnam version.

finally.
I just hope they made their homework and will not just be issueing an updated version of their old copied version or a half baked kit like their M-12 and M-4a2.
and speaking of, will they fix the rear hull slope problem from their M4a2 76 when they issue the M4a2 Marines kit.
another point of intrest for me is wether their F-16 is a new tool and if so how can it surpass Hasegawa's offerings.

I highly doubt it. They mention new decals, what probably means that the rest is the same as in old kit.

James, what problems did you have with your Sheridan? I can recall seeing the test shot that they had at the 98' Nationals and letting them know what was wrong. Having served over 4 years on one, I had a really good knowledge of what should and shouldnt be. Well, needless to say they didnt heed a word of what I told them and the errors are still there. NAmely the drivers escape hatch and the drain plugs. I've heard about the hulls being warped as well. Luckily mine is straight. Just curious what problems you encountered, before I build mine. "Q"

I hope this is a new tooling. That's what was announced months ago. Either varient would be fine to me, both in the same box would be sweet.
Now, if AFV Club will come through with thier promised Duster, I will be one happy little plastic addict.

I wouldnt call the M12 a half baked kit...the M4A2 is somewhat dissapointing due to the Rear hull (which i doubt will be fixed due to them most likely coming out with a M4A3 varent) and the Gun barrel.
I hope the Sheridan isn't a half assed effort like the M1A1 they are coming out with or the Warrior.
What ever happened to the M3 Lee/Grants they where supposed to come out with?

I sure hope they got the sheridan right this time. I did the Tamiya and spent considerable time making it into Viet Nam era, luckily I had found the old Eduard PE set which saved a lot of effort. If academy kit does it right, I may replace my Tamiya re-do,but I was pretty proud of my accomplishments with that one.
