Great idea but the name - "Truck'orama"?

I like it. I really can't think of a better name. I'm all ears though.

Hi Martin
I hadn't really looked at that way, but you're right... softskins is an important category, so why is it hived off and lumbered with a "jokey" name?

I have not taken the name as a joke. Yes in a way it does sound corny but not so much that it offends or makes a joke out of the softskin class of model.

Hi Cliff
It's not an offensive name, but Softskins are so important to all areas of modern warfare that I think the category deserves a straightforward name alongside Aircraft and Armour etc.
After all, we'll be submitting reviews of fuel bowsers and airfield vehicles that will interest the guys and gals in Wing'orama!
All the best

I agree with you on that score Merlin and I look forward to reading any reviews of airfield transports and supply vehicles.
PS> I have just heard that Skybow, having sold their 1/35 scale stuff to AFV, are working long hours to produce some 1/48 scale vehicles with the first two releases liable to be Tiger tanks.

Hi Cliff
I know for a fact that Flitzer's got some reviews in the system that will definitely sit nicely in your forum.

My 2 cents--looking at the icon and the name I first believed this forum to be for the semi trailer/tractor kits which were popular about 20 years ago, and I had no idea it included military soft skins. You know, the off-shoot of POV 'model cars' which included dump trucks and the like.
Humor is fine as long as the intended audience is reached.
Now I brought up an issue and have no solution to suggest (much like my ramblings at the weekly staff meetings...)
Oh I got one. How about 'Support'? That would cover rear echelon logistics and front line fighting vehicles.

I would have done "Softskins'orama" but it didn't seem to come out right.
Geese. Maybe I should just rename the site to "Military Modeling" and call it a day.

I also would like to re-iterate something I said to everyone when asked about creating this forum. Softskins are a SUB-set of Armor. We call the focus groups;
Aircraft - includes planes and helos
Armor/AFV - really all land based military vehicles
Dioramas - includes vignettes as well
Figures - includes military and historical figures
Sci-Fi - Science fiction military'esque
Warships - includes subs, etc.
As you can see we have sort of a Air, Land, Environmental Placement, Personnel, Space, and Water theme. I am not going to break from this architecture.
Thanks,
Jim
PS: Rowan - I wasn't directing this at you specifically as others have made similar remarks.

The way I look at it, its a name, big deal if its a little corny, or whatever your view of it is, we all know what it means and what is entailed insided that particular part of the forum.
So get over it, its just a name!!

As the forum is only "HOSTED" by armorama and is not in a sense owned by Armorama I believe I as the sites 'owner' have the right to name it!
I agree with Staff Jim and Scott on this one. Truck'orama is the new forums name and that's the way it is going to stay.
Over time I hope the forum will provide a good place to talk about trucks and other softskin vehicles and be a mine of information for helping people with their projects
