Hi John thanks for the comments ..The tracks are Friuls...NEVER AGAIN! not for a Sherman anyway!the tracks had to be redrilled each and every one...They are one sided so alot of work to make that side look good...the wire was not strong enough to keep the tracks together so I had to steal my wife sewing pins..They were long and tedious to do ...but they do look good now that they are finished . :-) As for the Pershing it is the Tamiya kit with about every after market kit out there on it ...and some scratch stuff too!! Fun kit to build ..Highly recommended !.

I agree with you on that Rick, inspiring a young modeler, would be as good a gratification as getting a top award.

One thing I wanted to ask, did your Sherman have near the aftermarket as the Pershing had?
I don't know whether it is because the people that have all this after market on their tanks, just take more time, do a little better job, cause they have so much money wrapped up in it, but it always seems like the ones that win have aftermarket on them.

Have you noticed this, some OOB do, but very little.
Or is it just the ones I have been seeing lately, that are that way.

Hi Kerry ...Well I know what you mean about the aftermarket stuff but I don't think a judge penalizes for not having the P/E but I think they do give more points for the model that is more realistic...Now by adding thinner light guards and other aftermarket stuff it does just that..Make it look more realistic..I guess one goes with the other...Many shows do have straight out of the box categories for those who want to go that way ..so I guess it is all up to the person building ..Of course not 100 sheets of P/E will make you win if the basic construction and painting are not done right . As for my Sherman it does have P/E light guards and chains on the gas caps but the rest is a conversion kit from Formations on an Academy Achilles kit ...So I guess you could say it has alot of Aftermarket stuff too..lol
Nick those first pictures were a little over exposed so what you think is snow is really a dusty sand color ..This was done with MMP powders just brushed on dry and scrubbed into the paint with the excess blown off and streaks made by using a small brush with thinner on it and pulling the pigments downward in a natural fashion.
