What is the difference in outward appearance between the M577 and the M1068? I know Tamiya has a very old M577. Would I have to do much to make a M1068?
Is the M577 used today, or are they all M1068? Would one or both be in OIF?
Thanks.
Bob

Hi Bob
Before I start, I want to say I am not an expert on the M577 and M1068, but I have seen a lot of pictures! :-)
The biggest thing I have seen on the outside as far as difference is the hatch covering the engine on the front. Take a look at these pictures:
M577 Walk Around
M1068 Walk Around
APC Page
Almost all M577 still in use have been converted to the M1068 IIRC.
I hope this helps, and I know there are some here who can give you a lot more info!

Here's an OIF M577A2(or A3?), from the 54th Engineer Bat. (this one is on my "to do" list for quite a long time...)
You can find some info about the M1068 here : http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ground/m1068.htm Its improved auxilliary generator is a more powerful diesel-powered unit (hence the new housing)
Thanks again for the walkaround pics Don !
