I am putting together a scene with snipers in it, using the DML kit...I am going to add a "getaway vehicle", and a couple of other small items as well. More photos in the gallery. Any suggestions or comments are welcome! Hope you enjoy them

Hi Robert,

The kneeling figure has put his rifle on the ground, but would a sniper put his rifle on the ( frozen) ground? Also it looks like they are both snipers, but Snipers usually work alone or with a spotter. And to be really picky the bush they hide behind is dark, and they wear white camouflage. I think I would have gotten myself some different cover or got flat on the ground :-). I do like that bush though.

Cheers
Henk

Are you going for a split season diorama - left 1/2 fall - right 1/2 winter? You wouldn't see snipers working in groups.
The bush needs some snow on top of it or clumped around it as if it fell from the tops over time. Don't forget foot prints and vehicle tracks.
I would use a gray wash to add shadows in deep creases and maybe even a gray/blue to add shallow shadows.

Booshamer...

Nicely done, especially the terrain and snow effects. i know what a real pain good snow can be. I know you stated you were not finished, so my suggestions are limited until I see the final work...

... on the figures, i have two suggestions as follows:

The left shoulder of the spotter has a separation gap where the arm meets the torso. A quick dab of putty would fix that quickly, and then the white paint could then be reapplied giving a more natural effect to the parka.

And, as Slodder has mentioned, you should try to get a little more shading on the white parkas and pants. To do this, I first paint the figures with light grey, and then dry-brush the white over that. The other option is now to simply do a dark wash (I would recommend a darker grey if you are going with a wash).

The DML figures you have chosen are well detailed and it is a shame not to maximize the pieces. I very much do like this work... look forward to seeing it in finished form.

Booshamer -

Just plain excellent. I really like the "feel" you've managed to convey in your scene. The others with much more talent and experience than I have brought out some good points already. I'm also not that "technically" astute to comment on the solo or with others point, or whether or not there would be a vehicle available. I think that other corner does need something there and a vehicle or some support aspect would seem to me to be logical. I do know what I like, and I like this idea and build. Nice job.
