Looks great. Having the finished photos first in the show gave a great idea of the work involved, followed by the "how I did it" photos. I built the Tamiya Duster back in the 70s, remembering it as a basic kit, but nothing else was available. You performed some micro-magic with this model. Congratulations!

Well, i had to research a lot too in order for me to detail the kit especially the turret and some of the parts there are scratchbuilt. I joined the recent IPMS Phils Nationals here and this is one of my entry, i was not fortunate though..but im truly happy with what i have done

btw, sorry for the blurry pictures... will post more good quality pics one of these days.

Actually, the kit is a really old ,1971 I believe, Tamiya. Lots of molded on detail and oversized parts. It can be made into a nice model, but takes lots of work. I did one a while back and put it on my M123A1c w/M15A1 tank transporter that won the Director's Choice Award at TamiyaConIX in '04. Here it is.

You did a great job on this one. I really like it. I have seen a few of these vehicles in Nam. In fact we had three of them at the Base Camp Cu Chi, with the 25th Div.

You show me just how lazy I really am!



Would you advise us of what kit parts you replaced? The P/E and white plastic in the pictures are self-explanetory.

IMHO, you have a superb realistic feel for weathering that dust or rust in the recesses!

I can't tell if they are photo lighting highlights or silver used for wear on raised areas, but I would suggest toning that down just a smidge.

I hope that my future builds will look even close to yours!

Wow, three dusters... did you use it mainly for base perimeter defense or as escorts?

It looks much better 'in person'. This is the first time I saw a resin track (I thought its metal the first time), the details and the weathering.... Superb.

Hope you drop by in one of our meetings or Saturday builds and bring this with you. I would really like to take another look.

Yes, you are right... it is one of my entry on the recent Nationals but it was not able to place. But still, i really love the result of my build and how the model looks like. Glad you liked it, Thanks!

Btw, the tracks is made out of plastic and the sprocket and drive wheels is made of resin.

Surely, ill be attending the meeting this November...hope to see you there

I'll look forward to meeting you in person Sir. Hope you can also give me tips on how you did the old rusty look on that tank. I really love the result.

BTW, we competed on the same category. Like you, mine also didn't get an award. Oh well, on to the 3rd Nationals on November next year...
