Howdy all. I'm hoping that the fine assortment of builders here will help me out on this. I am the awards chairman for our local AMPS chapter. We have a show next month and I usually do the "Best of Awards" for this. What we have are 13 category's and each gets a best of award. The awards are 8x10 Red Cedar Plaques, with a brass plate on it. The plate has the show info, ie date, and name of show and the name of who sponsored it. Along with that there is a doo-dad, for lack of a better term, mounted at the top of the plaque that corresponds with the award. IE...for best german, I have a German Tank assault badge mounted. Best Russian subject has a Soviet Tank assault badge mounted....
Well what I need are some ideas for a best Diorama. I have racked my brain and come up empty. Thats where the folks at Armorama come in. What would be a good representation of "Best Diorama?" Hope you folks can help out. I'll any and all suggestions into consideration.
FYI, the theme of this years show is 75/76mm. The award is really cool, I think. I found a 75mm shell casing at the flea market and got it shined up really nice. It will be mounted (on a larger plaque of course) with the same name plate across the bottom. Let me know what you all think about these.
I used to hate going to shows and getting these really generic awards, ie red, white and blue ribbons when I know that there was a lot of $$ that came in to make the shows happen. I try to make the awards as special as I can with the funds I have available so people will come back knowing that they can receive a unique award if they place well. Anyway, hope to hear some suggestion for the group soon. Thanks for taking the time to read this. "Q"

I'm not going to go really far for inspiration - the red icon here is the starting point
Dioramas have either buildings or landscape of some type.
So - how about a tree next to a building and if you want - throw in a 75mm casing some how. Maybe as a 'water mark' or as an accent.
Maybe something along the lines of a bridge or the 'end' of a bridge that shows the ground and the bridge coming off of it. This gets the building and ground invovled.
How's this for an idea to spin from. Take an old photo of an 75mm something in action (ebay auction) and reduce it in size and frame it as the 'do-dad'

Scott, I'm liking the old photo idea. This is without a doubt the hardest award that I have had to figure out. Thanks again. "Q"

How about the outline of a building ruin?
