nice dio youve got there a couple of critiques:
the tent looks a little to straight, and the camo netting doesnt really match w/ the desrt and is too small! i'd make it a bit bigger and lower and put those barrels under it, but those are mine only nit picks

cool layout, nice differences and twists.
Couple of things that might add to it. The shovel on the kuble could use a scratch built strap across the blade. The overhead camo net (IMHO) could use some rope tie downs for the poles. I'm not sure, so I could be wrong, I haven't seen a jerrry can in dark yellow with a different color cap? Last little thing add a wire for the radio to the hand piece.

the overall setting is nice but i have some comments...
I dont think that AA will last while driveing that kubel.
Futher more it is impossible to fire it as it is standing now.
The front of the AA is resting on the seats , do you know how much such a AA weights ?
And the seats of the Kubel were made from thin iron pipings .
I think that when it was fired the kubel would fall over om its side .
NO it is a wrong contraption and it can not be done.
And your figures are not suitable attached to the ground. They are hovering above the sand. And where are the foot marks in the sand ?
Then you can see very clear the glue under the wheels.
Also the webbing at the cuppola is to large . It hangs over the edges. Then there are to many rust tracks and marks on the little tank . May i remind you that armour in the desert don't rust . The paint wears out and it wil be bleeched by the sun .
And you have to do some work on the radio operator to.
Where are the wires for the head set and the microphone ?
Whats that white stain on one of the barrels ?
I think you have a lot of work to do on this dio to make it work.
Take your time and do some research , read some DAK books.
I was not intentioned to crack your work but those are the things i saw when i examined the pictures more closely.
i hope i helped you out.

I think you have done a very good job and i think that you have enjoyed the modling process and the effort that you have put in yes there are some areas that you can change adapt and i think they have been indicated, personally i think modling is about enjoying the process and with each process you learn we all want to improve and get better and for this process this webb site is fantastic.
I think that some times those who are very talented and want to give advice/critic perhaps the personal message would sometimes be appropriate.
Keep up the great work

I just want to toss in a comment, I have seen AA guns tossed on the 'backs' of different various vehicles for transport.
I agree that if the AA as fired on the kuble there would be trouble. I was making the assumption this was an 'in a pinch transport' type deal.
You do make a good point about the seats not holding it up, that bent pipe material would be hard pressed to hold it up.
So my thought boils down to "does it mirror reality or is it an artistic work" well I guess I'd have to put it under Artistic.

Hi all
I agree that we all use some artistic licence but its about enjoing the hobby and getting confidence,i must say if this forum had been available years ago when i started modling and my effort had been dismantled criticaly as this one has for me i would have felt like giving up it about giving confidence, and as i said in my first post that level of listed critic would be far better served being done in a personal message

I don't think anyone was trying to be overly critical they found a point and expounded on it.
Overall I believe this is a good diorama. I can tell that the skill and techniques were of high levels.

Hi there mondo...
well, i see i got plenty of comments. That;s why goos about this site. U get comments and then improved. I agree in most of the comments thrown here. One thing that i would like to say is that the 2 vehicles were aligned with the base of the diorama. I think it's better to put them at an angle from the edge of the diorama.
my 2 cents

Styrofoam layered with Jovi terracotta clay then sprinkeled with a bit of fine sand.

The tent was a Tamiya kit. I couldn't melt it to sag. So that's pretty much it. Tie downs a great suggestion. Thanks.

Looks real good.. and I think its a worthy effort.. esp since i havn't advanced to the dio stage yet and will myself prob get a lot of comments when i do..
i'm surprized that H.L.Sikkema didn't even notice that the kublewagon was Air Force (WL = Wehrmacht luftwaffe) and the armored car was Army (WH= Wehrmacht Heere)...
anyways thats one nice looking dio keep up the good work and use each work to advance your skills to a new level and you can't go wrong...
by the way the radio operators boots and cloths seem a bit too shiny.. :>

The Kubel with AA is not exactly an original idea. I found one scratchbuilt kit on the net. Missing-lynx if I'm right. he placed the same AA on top of the Kubel. I thought it was cool so I tried it out. Unfortunatley I have an old mould of the Tamiya kubelwagen while he used the italeri one that was a lot more better. I was also in doubt as to the feasibility of mounting this AA on such a tiny vehicle. But I liked the different look.
The good thing about this is it's roomy enough to make more corrections or additions If I want.
Send me some DAK books. There's too much censorship here in Saudi Arabia. A lot of publications never got here. Hell we got Harry Potter books one year late because of censorship.

I don't think that is a problem, the army would probably have a FOO (if that's the right term, might be from the artillery) from the airforce attached, for airsupport.
As for giving to much critisisem, maybe the serious 'tearing apart' belongs in the rivet counters forum, but I think all they responses on this site are positive. Now a response like " that's rubbish, that's wrong and you didn't do this right" would be bad and dishartening for the submitter, but I think most responses are along the lines of " I like it, and if you do this or that it will be even better". You can only improve if people tell you what's wrong.
Cheers
Henk
