i was jking around with a plane i painted for my brother a while back. the finish is quite rought because i didnt prime the surface neither did i wash the model.. and i was having troble with the paint. it still came out pretty nice, a little special and original, but nice. so i was tierd of seeing hte plane with nothing under it in his room so i took a piece of ply wood, and put white glue and sand on it and droped the plane on.. and decided, why not cover it with sand? so i did so... after a few days, i blowed the sand off. and to my surprise, it looked weathered.the sand particle stayed on the wings and body. realy looks good...
try it on an old model if you have nothing else to do, migth learn something ,who knows?
Frank
happy modeling

Frank...
somethign else i tried with that plane... for the base, i removed the excess sand... i didnt realy like its color so i said, why not change it! so i mixed dilluted elmers glue, with a little backing soda, and teh rest was sand so that it wasnt to liquidy. then i put a kind of dessert yellow color and burnt siena( water soluble paint) and mixed everything well, put it on hte base, let it dry, and now, it looks so good! the redder color is on top and lither on the botom so you get that deph effect you wouldnt usualy get
comments are welcome
