I was thinking of making a diorama featuring a nebelwerfer and crew beside a thatched roofed house.
Could it pass as and ardennes offensive and if so what would be needed

Hi Scott,

I think a Nebelwerfer would have been used at least at the start of the offensive, for the artillery barrage. I have not seen pic's or read about them being used later on, but as they were light and mobile, possibly.
If you depict the start of the offensive, lot's of scope for mud, but no snow. Think prepared position, well camouflaged and with an orderly stack of ammo nearby. These were Germans after all :-) .

Cheers

I definetely think it will work. Ammo for the intro would work. Camo would work. I would also think that the building could be damaged.

I noticed that you aren't a part of the Ardennes Campaign due to set off November 7th or it may be I just glanced over it.

I look forward to updates and good luck.

Agree with the others about early use (as well as dtails ideas) and that this would make a good addition to the "Battle of the Bulge" Campaign. The relative ease of mobility that this system had (towed or mounted) would make it a definite possibility. I'd defer to "DutchBird", "Henk", "DRAGONSLAIN" and several others who are muchmore knowledgeable than I am for a more definitive, accurate answer. Idea sounds good to me.

Agree the Kubelwagen 82 and Schwimmwagens were extensively used. Either one would compliment the "nebelwerfer" scene. Keep us informed on progress.

A-train,

just one remark, though the Belgians on board might know better (probably will). I think the roof could better be either tile or slate. Thing is, as far as I know, thatch is (relative) rare in the Ardennes, while slate is common. Then again, if you have pics ofcourse... but in the concord booklet, I have not found even a single house having a thatched roof. Most have slate roofs, some tiles...

Good luck with your dio...

I think you have the basics there. From the Germans at Rest set I take it that you are building a prepared position waiting for the battle to begin? You will only need to build the ground and vegetation. But those can be scratch build. Don't forget a table or crate with a map on it.

Hi Scott,

I would use the Italeri kit of the Kubelwagen for your Ardennen Offensive, I find it quite detailed and it is only 8,50 EURO
