I've been building some ambulance kits Have the WW2 / Korea Dodge version, the jeep and the HUMVEE. Is there a kit for the type used during the 60 - 70's The "Crackerbox" as my dad referred to it

Steve, Tamiya do the Land-Rover ambulance. Not a bad model, the backdoor hinges need working on, and if you are a stickler for detail the roof needs some work to. Comes with 4 figures and a driver.

To my knowledge (and I could be wrong) the only one for that time period is the Tamiya Landrover version.
Another conversion kit avaiable for the Korean war is the KD64 ambulance conversion for the Skybow (AFV) Dodge 4X4 Beep weapons carrier by Azimut in resin.
This converts the Dodge to the later airportable Ambulance that first appeared at the end of WW2.
Hope this helps

The Crackerbox was the old Dodge 880 series pickup truck based ambulance. They were M886. The name carried over when the Dodge pickups were replaced by Chevy pickups (CUCV or commercial utility cargo vehicle) in the 1980s. The Chevy based ambulance was the M1010.I've been building some ambulance kits Have the WW2 / Korea Dodge version, the jeep and the HUMVEE. Should be able to find a 1/32 scale snap tite kit of a Dodge or Chevy pickup truck and scratchbuild the ambulance compartment.

Thanks Rob. Now to try to find an 80's pickup truck kit IN 32nd SCALE !??? If there was even a kit of that made !!!!!!!!!. I had heard there was a conversion for the Peerless Max / Italerie / testors kit as the size (frame) and front grill were close to the same at least in the late 50's early 60's during "nam it was a lot closer to looking like a pickup truck with an Army grill and of course the big square box on the back.
