I found out that the Hobby Fan kit #HF006 M911 Talbert 64 Tonne semi-trailer Tank Transport was used in the ODS and is still used in the US Army today in OIF. And was towed by the M911 tractor. They are both used the M1070/ 1000 also.
I called the manufacter Talbert and asked a sales rep that sold and worked on these trailers back in the 1990's and now. I was told they were used and were very heavy and said to transport the M1A1's to bradley's to M113's.
The Tiawan army had the same kind and was only different by color. Same weight useage and everything, they built a 150 for the US Army and the Tiawan Army.
Just want to clear some stuff up that has bothered me since I bought this and fianially figured it out. He's sending me a brochure to confirm and to post on the site for reference.

Tom,
For your sake, hope it works out. I have never seen a M1070 HET pull any other trailer than a M1000, which was designed to go with it. Not saying it couldn't pull it, I have never seen it though. The trailer can probably be pulled by any truck with a 3" 5th wheel receptacle.
Haven't seen M911 used since ODS either.
Good luck.

Sorry if there was any confuson I was told that the M911 pulls the talbert and the 1070 pulls the M1000 and some M911's and talberts are used in OIF. M911/ talbert trailer were all used during ODS ( Hobby Fan kit ).
Thats what I was told by the Talbert company who makes the trailers.

Well, I can tell you that the South Dakota NG still use the M911/Talbert setup. I have seen them hauling M113's until I moved out. I confirmed it with a mechanic friend of mine who is in Iraq right now. They did not, however, take the M911's to Iraq, so no idea (and no confirmation) on if there are any there at the moment.
I also saw about 3 weeks ago a M911/Talbert setup just north of St. Paul on I694 carrying, of all things, a M551A2 Sheridan, with the armoured commanders station in NATO 3 tone. I have no idea where it was going, but it is probably headed to a museum or to gate-guard duty. Still, something to turn your head to. :-)

So maybe the sales REP thought there being used by Army but only in the states, Maybe when some of the reserve units get called up they'll take some with them because they can still haul alot of stuff, I am gona try and find out if there in OIF I just have to keep digging, because I read some where that they need more supply trucks because things are getting blown up or just getting OLD like the Vietnam trucks are breaking down so who know's maybe there's only a few or none but I'll keep calling just to find out for the Hell of it.
I hope so because that'll give us alot more dio ideas.

Hummmmm!!!
Without good referenced pics its hard to believe that.
During ODS, M911 are hauling the OFFICIAL HET trailer M747. I dont see any other trailer behind M911 in US Army (but i dont see all things )
The Talbert trailer is a non official item in vehicle list from US army (see the TM for this)
The M911+Talbert were used by ROC army.
Hellenic army is using today using M911 but not the US army.
During ODS and OIF there is many civil trucks that work for the Army. So there is many sort of trucks for hauling heavy vehicles.
To read more on this interesting subject....

Here are the links to Talbert comp :
http://www.talbertmfg.com/military.html
But nothing new. The ROC army M911 don't have the tag axle.
The M1 on the "desert storm" pics has a 3 tones european camo sheme and is very clean for a deset war tank.

There are at least 2 pics of M911 tractors in the following OIF photo album (I don't post the pics directly, for a permission matter ) maybe from the 233rd Transportation Company (Ft Knox)

Pascal, I'm definitely not an expert on "heavy haulers" but the pics I'm talking about are on page 6 (one is a front-view picture thats shows a soldier leaning on the right headlight guard), those on page 10 show a M1070 tractor....

The Talbert Hobby Fan was used in ODS and OIF but are used differently now though. They were not built by the Army they were outsourced but the M747 were Army built the OLD types used like the M911's are used now.
I just got of the phone with the commander of the 233rd at fort knox, He says he's one of the oldest guys in the building and when he was in ODS they were used for everything, that the new HET 1070 / 1000 are used for now, but the M911's talberts's are over there in OIF as base movers like only to move stuff from base to base or in house base moving around.
So that's the latest news from the Army.

Seeing the photos from above site on page 6, that is what I thought. The markings are from the PrePo yard vehicles used within the yard, APS 5 Sustainment. These vehicles are not issued out to tactical units, but used internally by the contractors that maintain the fleet.

Frenchy, the pages are different when using a style or another to see the pics (elegant small: page10; elegant page 6)
No franco-french war in view.

To say the truth, such a confusion from you, about 2 different modern US heavy haulers seemed highly improbable to me

I wanted to see the WAR!!!!
I should have just let use just duck it out; but I thought I owed it to my fellow Hobby Fan lovers. I heard those Franco-French wars were something to see. I feel like the United Nations now.
Major HeavyArty; I know I could count on you because me and the US Army knows your the Best. Now the key is to get some pictures off the net so I can conform some sort of dio.
HeavyArty so there used to carry only forklifts, or do they carry other things also. Like AFV, Trucks etc.
Thats the New question of the Day; ladies and gentlmen?
Today is a GOOD Day
PS: Because I don't have to sell my dream kit.

Tom,
They are used to carry all sorts of things. Basically any item or vehicle that will fit on the trailer. They move vehicles around when they go from APS afloat and get rotated to APS on shore or to APS maintenance or are moved from APS site to APS site, etc. It would be feasable to see tanks and Brads on them. Just remember, the APS site is in Kuwait, so combat loaded vehicles would not be on them. Like wise, combat loaded soldiers would not be operating them either, most likely civilian contractors or rear echelon transpo types.

pascalbausset; ?
The only major problem is the deck needs the middle cut out and I can use the dremel tool for that. Because I asked the commander of the 233rd transport unit about all aspects of the trailer becuase when he was in ODS he had to load it drive it etc. it was his truck setup. I asked him about every aspect of the trailer from the front to the back to the hick. He detailed the model to detail because I didn't ask him anything but what it looked like and I asked if he could be very spacific and it hit the point on every detail. He was more than willing to help.
So maybe your still looking at the M747 or your looking at pictures of talbert trailers that are of different tonage because there was a few others made for the Army at the same time. You just have to make sure it's the 64 ton talbert. because I searched on search engines from west coast - to east asia search engines theres like 1000's of them on the net. My teacher gave me software one time that had almost all of them.
Because I don't understand how hard it would be to build it when there's not that much wrong with it because from the start you just have been so up in armes about the kit so againest this kit being wrong and not even US army but it was only made by tiawan and of course I proved that wrong. I also mite just to prove you wrong again I will ask the Talbert company for a drawing or a copy of the plans of the 64 ton talbert trailer.

OH, I thought it was the trailer that was making the big spalsh, the M911 truck I don't know but that was next on my list because I thought that was going to be my biggest headache. I thought I had to build a scrap build M747 and that wasn't going to happen it would be to hard for me.
I'll read about the M911 truck is there anywhere I can get drawings or some sort of info besides the operaters manual's online. Or where can I find any great photo's because there hard to find I have some and Sabot's motor pool is great I seen some on other sites but it's not clean shoots and crisp pictures to get a feel for the accurate history that I wanted to potray in this kit. It's a massive kit and I've always liked trucks.
There is alot of superdetailing you can do in the manuals but with the trouble spots your talking about I would like to get it right because I am going to take my time and do this kit right because it is a exspensive kit.
Maybe we come up with some great pictures or reference stuff to help other Hobby Fan lovers.
Happy Modeling
