Are there any major Differences between The M110 / a1 ver. Vs M110a2? I know the gun is a diff. length & has a muzzle brake.

If your talking about the track I don't think so. AFAIK the carriage, gun mount, sights, loading gear are all the same. Maybe differences due to upgrades? The M110 with the short barrel is a Howiter and the long barrels are guns. I've been told that the A1 barrel is the length of the A2 barrel less the muzzle brake. Don't know if this true as no one seems to have a picture of the A1 with the long barrel, no brake.

I think your confusing the M107 as a long barrel 110. To the best of my knowledge there were three main variants . the m107 175mm very long barrel system. The M110 203mm essentialy short barrel. the M110a2 longer barrel 203mm. all variants had the same chassis and equipment. I also believe the barrels were interchangeable but am not sure. There was a rcovery variant called the M578.I would think the settings gor the different shells would be different though(DUHHH).

Yes the barrels were interchangeable. From what I can find out, The 175mm Barrell wore out VERY quickly. I was refering to any major changes to the Chassis.

No confusion. The discussion was the M110A1 vs M110A2. Yes your correct, the M107 175mm is a long barrel therefore a gun. The M110 is a 203mm howitzer. Has a short barrel. The M110A1 and the M110A2 are guns. Long barrels. Matts question was are the chassis the same? Yes. Matt I assume that this is a modeling question and you are modeling these? The Italeri kits? I have the M107, M110, M110A1 and several M110A2's. I asked the same question as you because the kits are all the same with the only difference being the barrel and of course the decals. The answers I received were that the chassis was indeed the same and all the photos I have found shows this to be true. Cain't say this is true for the A1 as I have been unable to find one. The barrel in the Italeri A1 kit is a howitzer barrel ie.. the M110. I bought a verlinden conversion kit a couple of years ago to correct the A1 kit. Damn kit had a resin M110 howitzer barrel which the instructions said to use to convert to an A1and a resin A2 barrel. So the only thing I got out of it was the nicely detailed breech and breech block assembly. I will use the howitzer barrel on my AFV club M59 155mm towed to convert it to the M115 203mm towed so all is not lost.

I'm planning on it though. I think I WILL get the Eduard P-E set (M-110A2) to use on the M-107.
Thanks,
