This one seems to be fitted with a Dazzler MCD on the turret ( "borrowed" from the USMC ?)

The photo album it comes from has a lot of OIF Bradley pictures (useful for storage set-up variants...)

Frenchy, Thanks for posting the link. Those pictures brought back some memories. Some good, some not so good. Nice site. "Q"

Missle Counter Device

Its used to screw up optically guided ATGMs by confusing the controller on the launcher by putting out a brighter light then the flare at the back of the ATGM from what I understand.

Cool. Then, MCDs are the devices seen on some M1A1s where the CITV is, right?

Amazing site! Some of the places in those pictures are very familiar to me. I spent alot of time in Baghdad starting maybe two months aftwer those shots were taken.

Many OIF-related albums (with Hi-Res pics) are available using the site's search engine and the word "iraq" as a criterion...

Yep just on USMC M1A1's...not any of the Army M1s or M1A2s...then with my luck someone will find one

I read somewhere USMC has it's own Bradleys, so because it's using the "Dazzler" it should be a MC vehicle..

Anybody who can confirm, or knows the details?

No the USMC NEVER used Bradleys. Like I stated before the US Army developed the MCD, but untill I've seen this photo never installed it on a US Army vehicle, outside a prototype. Most Marine equipment is taken from the US Army, though there are exceptions to this rule..

This is interesting in the fact that I believe it was found no confirmed ATGMs were fired at Abrams or Bradleys. If anyone has something to refute this, PLEASE correct me.

What I want to know is how they got it? How do you, a Bradley crewman in the Amry, get in touch with a tanker or supply sergeant in the Marine Corps (operating in different areas of the country) and somehow "swap" an MCD? Then how you install it to a different vehicle than it is used on (you would need the systems from the USMC or the original Army systems)? And how would you get your commander to allow it (even if he was a PLT cmdr, he'd need approval from Co, CO cmdr approval from BTN. cmdr, etc)? Interesting questions.

Well I knew I remember reading about the MCD mouting on the bradley some where...Google comes to the rescue!

http://www.pmbradley.org/bits/bits15.htm

And here's the Quote...

Missile Countermeasures Device (MCD) (available to selected units as needed). The MCD will defeat some types of guided missiles.

This is part of the ODS upgrades done to the M2/3A2 Bradley.

Here is a picture of myself and my Section Cheif. This was taken at the Damam Port, Saudia Arabia during the winter of 1994. That was the time that Saddam sent his army to the border of Iraq and Kuwait. my brigade, 3rd Birgade of the 24th Infantry Division was sent over there to stop him once more and turn his Chiken S#$% A#$ around, which he did when we got there.
Anyways, these Bradley where repositioned on ships and set afloat to prpsitioned places for later battles.
As you can see, it has the MDC. Also notice that it still has its trim vaine attached, so since it was 3 years after ODS, do you call it an M2A2ODS or what. THE NEVER ENDING ODS QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Pete,

The Bradleys I worked on in Germany (1995-97) where Operation Desert Storm vets with some of the ODS updates done to them like the exhaust, new doghouse, and GPS antenna. We didnt take the swim barriers off (per MWO) after we got back Bosina in October of 96.
