The gun looks like a russian-built 152mm D20 howitzer (I wonder if it's still usable in this configuration...)
D'OH ! I have forgotten to select the "Artillery" DG... Sorry !

It looks like tubes from a BM21 GRAD, grafted on to a D30 towed arty piece. Kind cool really.
Used under the right tactics, it could be a very versitile piece of kit, fire your 8 rockets and get out of dodge, shoot and scoot. Be good on infantry formations.

Looks like a nice salvo. The gun for long range, the tubes for mid-close encounter. What a nice offence/defence combo!

If they are the same tubes and rockets that are on a GRAD, which is what they look like, they can fire just as far as the gun can, looking at 20-25kms.
My guess is that the gun is worn out, and being short on replacements after the last Gulf war, they have welded on rocket tubes from possibly worn out or destroyed GRAD trucks.
Either way, its an ingenious design!!

Gun is/was not a D-30. It looks like an old US M1 105mm. The D-30 has a different shield, 3-trails and a different breech set-up.
I just love the stuff we keep finding over there. The best I saw was a motorcycle with a sidecar mounted recoilless rifle, looked like a Soviet 106mm. Had a seat for the gunner and all. They actually took on a Bradley with it. You can guess the outcome.

I think it's OK for the BM21, but the D30 looks different to me (carriage, armor plates gun breech ). Here's a picture :
and here's a D20 picture :

Gino-- I am far from an expert on artillery, but I doubt this is the M101 105mm howitzer carriage. Look at the breech, isn't that awfully large for the US 105? I'd go with the Soviet derivative. At any rate, I bet they fired that hummer more than once.

I have another picture of this gun in my album on page 4. Maybe it will help.

On second look, gun looks like the older Soviet D-20 howitzer. Looks like the one in Frenchy's post to me.
