All of Testors in the spray can Gloss, Semi-Gloss and Flat coat are a lacquer base.
Not like Future, as future is an acrylic.
I have never had a problem getting a glossy coat from the Testors Gloss, are you sure you weren't using the Flat or Semi Gloss can????? These wouldn't give much of a gloss if at all.
Testors also make a gloss, semi gloss and matt in the bottle that you can thin with thinner, I beleive they make these in their MM line in both acrylic and enamel.....may be wrong here as I have only seen them in passing and have never tried them.
One thing to stay away from is the Krylon Latex Matt Coat....its sucks as a matt coat, and actually will give more of a gloss coat than a coat of future will.
