For my first dio I am doing a scene of Kursk. In my mind it needs lots of pine trees and mud and tall grass. I got the mud part down but I am still looking for people who make 1/35 pine trees and how to make tall grass. Thank you.

Harrison
I just went through my book "Images of Kursk" and have to say I didn't find any pictures of pine trees. I found lots of leafy trees.
I am simply tossing this out as one reference, I have done this before and been prooven wrong. So, if you have Kursk refs with pines, awsome, go for it.

Check places like Michaels, and AC Moore, they are putting out Christmas decorations (yea ALREADY ) and there are few companies who make pine tress that will work

Harrison - yes - but it will take a bit to scan them in and then upload them. I'm happy to do it if you have time.

I just went through and found a bunch of different tree shots - if you can be patient I'll start the process.......

Harrison,

The grass I used in my Kursk dio I believe was from Woodland Scenics. It sticks up straight much better if you first put down a layer of static grass. I just took a small bunch diped one end in super glue and stuck it to the static grass. Then just take a scissor and cut it to the height you want. After that just tap it with your finger to fan the bunch out. It's a long process but I was happy with the results.

You can check out pics of my Kursk dio "Crossing the Line "under my featured articles. Sorry don't know how to post pics here yet

I LOVE THAT DIO! I have seen that dio many times before. One thing though is, I dont think that the elephant tank belongs in that type of position. I dont know why, I just think it looks goofy. lol

TsunamiBomb if your'e looking for cheap tall grass. You could always use the good ole brush hair. I've found the camel hair used on wood varnish brushes the best as the absorb acrylics well. I'm not familiar with the tall grasses of Russia but if it looks anything like the pic below, then brush hair will do the job.

The above pic is a combo of mainly brush hair and coconut fibres.

Can anyone tell me or post a link on how to make pine trees?

I don't want to order through the net since the peso to dollar exchange rate in our country is quite high. It would be very expensive for me to order from another country.
