Evening All,
Man am I psyched! Just scored one of those ESCI/Ertl LAV C2...My wife is probably gonna kill me for adding another kit to the stash, but I couldn't pass this bad boy up. I know the rear comaprtment is too low, can anybody recall any quirks/problems besides that? I know the tires are gonna have to go, I already figured on that. Any input on the kit would be deeply appreciated. Thanks!
Jacques

ok, I built this kit, but it was for the Twilight 2000 campaign, so it is not entirely cannon!

One thing I did NOT do that I should have was to add about 1/8 to 1/4 inch of height to the back compartment, from the "hull top" up. However, this shoul dbe added BEHIND the commanders station and the little "step". SO it would be a complicated cut.

I also added the wire cutter on the front "hood"...none in the kit. The rear deck from the Esci kit was added to a Italeri LAV-25 chassis, as the ESCI chassis is poor. It has very noticably wrong angles.

The wheels are AEF Designs.

Hmmm I wonder how much work would have to go into that kit to make a Canadian Bison....which is basically the same thing.......didn't even know that a kit of that even existed....from the sounds of it, it is pretty rare.

Thank-you for your quick reply, Jacques. I remember your C2 from the Campagn, it's great to see her again. I've been hunting for a C2 since I saw yours! You're right about correcting the height, it could very well be a complicated cut...thankfully I'm going to add her to my stash until I can do her Justice. I had heard something a while ago about the lower hull problems with the ESCI LAVs, guess it's a good thing the Italieri LAVs aren't too expensive. I'm thinking about the AEF Designs route for the wheels also, and their LAV stowage set as well.

Viper, you want the italeri LAV 81mm mortar to begin a Cdn Bison conversion.

Tom,

It's not a bad kit, and if you take your time it will become a decent -25, One thing I've discovered with their LAV-25 is the prop in the rear, they touch the rudders which on the actual vehicle doesn't happen... I also recommend the Eduard PE for the LAV-25, as well as some of the items in the Bradley turret interior update set also from Eduard. AEF designs has variuos detail sets, including one with the M240G. Fortunately the basic LAV-25 can be had for about twenty bucks... I still strongly recommend the Italieri/Revell LAV's!
