Steeldog:

If you check my album at digital dioramas, I have a couple pics of an Ontos my Stepfather photographed when he was in Vietnam. I'll see if I have more.

It was designed to give the light forces defense against masses of Soviet tanks. The Ontos could fire the 6 RR at the tanks and scoot away quickly. Mainly an ambush weapon.

In Vietnam, the RR were used to support attacks against bunkers and I think there was a flechette round (anti-personnel) that was used to defend against massed enemy troop attack.

Holy Moly Macaroni's John17!

Those are superb ref shots!!

Many thx sir.

Tread.

EDIT:
"...and I think there was a flechette round (anti-personnel) that was used to defend against massed enemy troop attack...."

Wow!....with the ability for the Ontos to fire all six weapons at the same time, can you imagine the damage a volley of six fleshette-filled rounds would incure on an advancing enemy?? .......weeeeeeeehwww!

looking around at what i've seen and read just over the lastfew hours it was mainly used with a flechette round apparently?
so your absolutley right sabot
one quote was that the nva and vc used to simply void any contact at all with ontos ,if forward spotters noticed them ,they would call off attacks! , no wonder it was called the wolds biggest shotgun !

I recently saw this Ontos (a runner) being shipped to the Jacques Littlefield collection in California. I shot about 100 photos of it, inside and out. If you can tell me what type of detail shots you need, I will send you some images.

Hi Kenaz,

If you will email me your address at [email protected] I will send you a disc with all
of the photos I took.

I am glad that someone can use them, I really like the vehicle and I am waiting for a plastic one, someday?
