Hi Josh

First of all let me welcome you to the best model site on the web. Now to your question. the one book I would suggest is Shep Pain's "How To Build Dioramas" . It's put out by the same folks that publish Fine Scale Model. It covers just about every area of diorama building, and the author is one of the true masters of our hobby.
There are other books out there on any number of modelling and diorama related topics. Depending on what kind of subject matter you want to build.
Another idea that is cheaper and easier is to check out the articles on the left side of this as well as the other pages on this site. They are on a wide range of very helpful topics, and can be very useful. Last but not least, if you have any questions at all, just post them and someone will come up with an answer. I think you will find Armorama to be not just the most useful, but the most friendly modelling site on the web. Good luck, I hope this helps

Zephyr -

Also, first a welcome to the friendliest, most helpful, enjoyable, and hands down, best modeling site. You'll find just about anything you need here in the way of info, support, constructive criticism, offers to help. It is a true "family" atmosphere. Let us know what your areas of interest or preferences are and those that work in those dioramas can be more helpful. Agree with "Faust" that Osprey's book is a great starting point and I've used the Verlinden books for armor ideas quite a bit also. You can find most at "amazon.com",

Hey Josh - WELCOME!

List of books above is great - My al around favorite is Shep Paine's Books.

But you also have come aboard a great resource for every detail you can imagine about building diorama. This website is one of the best. You will find articles, Hints, “How to”, pictures and lots of helpful Comrades-in-arms to help you built and enjoy!

So get some good books and remember we are all here to help you anyway we can!

Josh,

Firstly, welcome to the big A.

The books mentioned above are all brilliant. I recently bought the Shep Paine book, and let me just add that it is an amazing book. It certainly has changed the way I model.

Thanks for all the help. Now I can build some over the Holidays, or at least try.
