Here are some shots of my latest effort. This is the Italeri kit built OOB.

Inspiration came from John Wypyszinski (white4doc)
Nice kit.

Shain-- as I understand it, the Marines used Navy grey early in the war then switched to OD. The red bars signify that the LVT is designated for a Red Beach landing. I got the idea from white4doc and a Verlinden advertisement in MMiR. I still need to weather and highlight her.

Real nice, hope my own LVT(A)1 will be finished one day too :-)

Do you also have a crew, and if so, which? Got a hard time finding something usefull (and not too expensive)

Dave,

Looking good! She's good to go even before the weathering. I haven't been able to do much with mine since my surgery, I'm hoping to get such good results with my two gators. What did you finally end up using for the Grey?

John-- I sprayed a combination of Humbrol Gray mixed with a little Matt White over the vehicle. The base color was flat black. I am weathering her now and will post some more phots by Monday.

Very nice, General...I think that your choice of color scheme/paintjob is very unique, sir...How are you going to display this subject? Dio, Vignette?, etc.?

Gunny- there is the challenge. One can construct this fine model and weather itand be left with a limited amount of options on what to do with it. The dio idea is appealing if I can make the water and beachhead scene. I am into some railroad modeling sites and seeing if that is not in the too hard to handle box. Figures are another subject. I am none too good at painting little people.

Good build. Do you have a closeup of the graphic on the turret?

I promise to get a shot of the Babe on the turret. The decal come from a distributor who Gunny recommended to me. I can get the details when I get home. Basically, you can purchase a sheet of Babes and slogans. You apply the decal over some Solvaset then apply some flat aand they melt into the background. More photos to come.
thanks

Haw...I hear that General! I myself suffer from the big hands, bad eyes syndrome....I think that no matter what you do with this piece, it truly will be a great looker...

Looking good DJ.... You got alot further than I did on this project as I got frustrated at the warping caused by the conversion kit (or what I did to the conversion kit ) to make an LVT2 .. I'm no expert on these kits but I always thought that the Marines didn't use the white star on their Landing craft and only the army did... I may be very wrong here and I don't have my info here in front of me so this is off the top of my head . Well no matter what it really looks good ..can't wait to see it weathered.

Rick-- appreciate your comments. I took the poetic license of applying the National Symbol to the front of the vehicle from the Zaloga book on AMTRACS. I thought it would draw attention to the scrapped bottom of the vehicle. I also used a Verlinden aftermarket kit on the basic Italeri LVT. A major disaster in fitting. I had to cut and sand to the point where it became work-- we do this modeling for entertainment. On the LVT (A) I decided to go straight from the box and just finish a nice addition to my collection. I am working the DUKW now and she is also a nice build. I weather the LVT (A) tonight and will post more shots on Monday. I am getting use to the camera and hope this next series will display the weathering.
thanks again

Ahhh DJ - you put a "cheesecake" decal on your Turret. I'm looking forward to seeing the completed model. Nice job so far!

Gunnie - - as always, great to hear from you. You provided me the e mail address for the decal maker who produces the Babe Sheet. Can you send the address again since several folks have asked where I got the shot of the Lil' Honey?
thanks
