I am looking for a 1/35 towbar assembly, one that is opened and attached to a recovery vehicle and a pulled vehicle. I would rather not have to cut apart one from my M88 kit. There has to be something this obvious out there, right?

I've never seen one. Probaby fairly easy to make. Buy some tube styrene and there are bits and pieces you don't use from various kits you can use for end pieces. Use the one from the M-88 kit as a guide

You're right, there's one tow bar included in the resin M1 accessory set released by Legend (useful set BTW) even it's not visible in the picture below (#LF01029):
but I agree with Steve about the scratchbuilding option ...

I just posted all around shots of the tanker tow bar: https://armorama.kitmaker.net/photos/showgallery.php?cat=13731&password=.
It is the larger of the two that we use. The smaller one is called a PC tow bar. The tow bar pictured above uses a 4" diameter steel tube and it is 6' long excluding the end fittings. I agree with the guys above that scratchbuilding one out of some styrene tubing and bits & pieces from the parts box should not be too difficult.
Cutting apart the AFV Club/Revell tow bar would be a pain. You'd end up replacing the bars with tubing any way.
