I don't order modelling magazines, especially since i've found Armorama, but I pick one up every now and then to "see whats up". I recently have bought a tamiya magazine (I don't have it on hand right now for the issue no.) but it had an amazing article on how some guy used tamiya mask to create extremley realistic paint chiping on a challenger 2. My question is, is there any alternative to tamiya mask, since I am unable to obtain it? And, another question branching off of this one. Anyone living in small former soviet countries, or anyone knowledgable in russian armor, could you tell me how to achieve the wear effect on most russian armor lying around? The wear is not as well defined as the paint chipping. Actually, the paint isn't chipped at all, it's just worn down to the metal, so that the green melts into the primer melts into the metal. How could I reproduce this effect in 1:35? would I have to resort to rubbing, or is there a better way?
