Finally was able to grab one of these at the local HobbyTown USA. It is a pretty good kit. I had to start building it right away. The kit is falling together nicely.

It has some slight changes from the original Kubelwagen they did in 1/48 scale. Mainly around the engine and exhaust area, and of course the balloon tires.

They don't include the changed parts so this kit only builds into a DAK version. The only leftover parts are the original version's headlights. The DAK Kubelwagen uses headlights with the canvas covers.

It includes two figures, a standing pilot in shorts and a driver in shorts. Both look pretty good. Markings are for Luftwaffe and a couple of Wehrmacht vehicles in North Africa.

Price is about as much as their 1/35 scale Kubelwagen, around $15. To me, that makes it a bit expensive, but still much cheaper than the 1970s era Bandai Kubelwagen or one of the Frog/Fuman reissues.

Eduard released a photo etched set for the regular Kubelwagen and since these are mainly the same kit, they should be compatible. I took a look at the Eduard instructions on their site and figured the PE didn't really add any value.

The kits look like they are being aimed at the aircraft builders, but these have lots of possibilities for armor builders.
