I am building a diorama which features a willys jeep that has crashed into a brick wall at about 30/40 m.p.h.The windshield is in the upright position and the canvas hood is up. The problem i have is in the event of a crash would the windshield fall back down and the hood collapse or was it all locked together? All the pics i have seen does not seem to show a locking mechanism. If anyone knows i thank you in advance.

the jeep windscreens were clipped in place and would have been further supported by the hood being up.

At 30/40 MPH I would say the screen would have been still partly upright but badly bent as the driver would have hit the screen at a great rate of knots and if there was a passenger this would have been double the force. So in reality this force would have laid the windscreen down or partially so in my opinion.

Hope that helps
Cliff.

Cliff described it about the best you can, no 2 wrecks are the same, whether your glancing off the wall, or hitting it head on, all makes a difference, what was the passengers doing at the time of impact, did they have time to ready for it, or totally surprised, by being run off the road, or the steering wheel came off in the drivers hands.

This all makes for the outcome. Were they drunk, or sober. This could all play on which direction they fly, and what kind of damage they cause to the jeep.

There is only the driver in the jeep who is sober. He is going too fast into a left hand corner in the wet and losses control of the jeep, slamming into the wall on the pasenger side. The jeep is also towing a trailer loaded with boxed rations. I have done the damage to the jeep already,( i just hope it looks right as i was not quite sure how it would crumple up. There is not a lot of pics of smashed up jeeps on the net Also what do you make your canvas covers out of? Once again thankyou in advance.

Also what do you make your canvas covers out of

Andy, you can use either tissue paper, wetted with PVA Glue or use aluminium foil. I think that aluminium foil makes better looking 'folds' when it's draped over something, but tissue paper is easier to work with if you try to make a canvashood in the up position. it will also have a better texture for this purpose than aluminium.

Cheers
