I've got a Tamiya 1/35th Marder III M on the way for a holiday present.
Since I did not spend the $$$ for the kit, I don't feel quite so guilty about tossing a some aftermarket at the kit.
So what is the best :
Etch set? (I comfortably use all of Eduard sets, except the stuff that is supposed to be round.., but never use a whole Aber set.)
Barrel?
Fighting Compartment detail set ?
Tracks?
Aftermarket Ammo?
What is the single best reference book?
Is it covered in any of the Achtung Panzer Vols? love those line drawings.
Which Nuts and Bolts vol is devoted to it? At first glance today, VLS listed 2 different Marder vols.
I will admit to having NOT gone digging throught all the back issues of MMiR and AFV Modeler just yet, but I will soon. I have looked in the Missing Minks and WW2 Modelmaker galleries.
Your thoughts?
Mike

Hi Mike ...If you really want to go all out on this kit , Tiger Model Designs have some great up-dates for this kit and even convesions to make it into the earlier version. They look really nice.. I also heard that a company called K-59 is coming out with some wild stuff for this kit too..Blast also did some interior stuff. As for tracks you can chose between Friuls ,Model Kasten and WWII Productions.
P/E either Aber or Eduards will do ..
Barrels I don't know..
Have fun with this great kit .

Richard, Thanks for the tips.
I don't usually build anything on this chassis. I'm more of a Panther/250-251/ kingtiger fan, so it's all new to me.
I'm a big WWII productions fan, so that sounds good.
The K59 stuff looks like more than I really want to get into, but the Tiger stuff looks like it's a bit more of the speed I'm looking for. Their radio set looks great.

Hi Mike,
besides the PE sets, Aber also has a barrel for the Tamiya Marder M, item number 35 L-05.
If you go to the Aber site you'll also be able to see the instructions in PDF format; they are massive and extensive.
Also, for Eduard you can do the same.
Hope this helps,
Harm
Thanks for the reminder. I'd seen the Eduard set instructions and was only feeling lukewarm about the set, but the Aber set.. WOW!
I wish the site was a little easier to navigate, but those instructions look great!
WWII Productions tracks, Aber Basic set, fenders, barrel , and Nuts and Bolts 17 it is then..
And to think, I wasn't going to go whole hog on this kit for a change..

I used the Eduard PE set, and it added quite of detail.
I also used the Aber barrel, which is quite nice.

Hi!
I have bought the gun barrel from : ABER.
I am very satisfied with it!
Also the BLAST interior set is quite good. It also has the gun barrel included, but this is by far not as good as the ABER one!
