Hello there guys
I am doing this one on the "Move it" Campaign
Is a small dio and presents a scene that had happened in a small mountain Village in Greece, Korinthos region. The village name is Sarantapiho and it is my family;s hometown.
Is a small village on the mountain 1543 meters of altitude and 6 months is covered with snow .
on the WWII the Germans took pocession of the village, and some day they had information that the Greek resistance men had burried a big load of gunnery that had stolen from the Germans in a location just outside the village. There the kids used to play and fool around. So the Germans took there and started questioning the boys if they knew anything on the gunnery that was supposed to be burried . The kids actually didnt knew anything , but played tricks to the Germans making them dig here and there for the gunnery .

Thats what i ll present the, questioning phase of the incident .
There will be the scene with 2 German officers questioning two kids while two other schoolboys keep playing no matter what s happening. There will be 4 germans figures and the staff car Kubelwagen 57 Tatra.

Part 1 today is showing the base almost finished the groundwork and the kid figures located on their final position. in the coming weeks i ll add the 4 Germans and the Tatra car .

The stoneroad is one of KANCALI's productions of latex street sections, kindly provided to me . Its very easy to work with and very nicely molded . Was a great fun working with it

I hope u ll enjoy this one .

Thanks for the comments guys.
The figures are 2 Andrea kits
1 named "RASCALS" and the other called "LEAPFROG". Really cool figures and perfectly sculpted even so small .

The groundwork is a mixed work that includes Woodland scenics Foliage net under all, then some mixed colours static grass to cover some gaps of the net , and then some spots of HEKI wild grass.

The setting looks so tranquil and vibrant. Almost reminds me of some of the "lord of the rings" scenic settings.
Costas ... this is one of the best scenes I have seen. Everything looks excellent. Can´t nit-pick at all. I think that looks like one of the Kincali roads as well. I was looking into metal grates for the hole but you have made the grateless hole very realistic. The ground work and variations are amazing as is your tree.
Very impressive dio building ... cant wait for the rest!

Frank and Jesper thanks for ur kind comments.
indeed the latex street section is one of Kancali's and i didnt look for metal cover over the hole in the street cause there will be located the Tatra and will be covering that spot. The car was not an off road but a staff car and thus is very low profiled, not leaving any gap to see the metal cover .so...i avoid that one for this time .

have already assembled the figures and the Tatra and will be working on them soon

hi bro,
Everytime I see a dio from you, I say to myself Nick you must quit trying to make one. You always make great and quick work. Very realistic dio and great scenery. It's the first dio that represents the fight of Greece. I like it!!!!!!

IGI, u want the truth? before Armorama and despite all these 24 years of modelling , i was looking at other peoples dio's and say ..hmm i have to stop, never will be that good . but i never stopped and i ll try to improve every time i do a new work . So u have to do the same . Just keep trying and keep building.
Armorama treatment has done to me such good to my skills that i think in one year i improved as much as in all me previous 24 years of modelling

Brother Wolfy thanks for ur comments . I hope the Tatra and the Germans will come equally good to the work thats already finished and i can blend them nicelly .

Feels great to be back here after 2 weeks !!!!!!

Great to see you working again! You have a good eye for creating a "natural" scene. I like the blend of plants you have created. This is an excellant start, I will anxiously await the completion.... The figure painting is that of a master. I"m envious. The only thing I might like to see is may be another color of flowers introduced just to tone down the emphasis of the purple, may be a yellow but sparse. Just enough to offset the brightness of the purple. Just a thought.

Great stuff. I have a question - what did you do to the middle of the road? That's a nice treatment.

Hi neighbour
A very very nice diorama, congrats. The road, foliage and the figures are very well done. These Andrea figures, I've never heard about them. Are they from Greece?

Bravo Costas... this is one of the nicest scenes I've seen in a long time. I almost wish you wouldn't put an army vehicle in it...

Bravo,
Mario.

Great work Costas! You've done your usual outstanding job on the figures. It looks like a Norman Rockwell painting. A real winner so far.

Thanks a lot guys for your comments . Some answers to what u ask .

Roadkill. The moss is the Woodland scenics magical dark green powder for groundcover thai i used over a thin coat of 3M spray adhesive i mist on the trunk.

Slodder: After washing and drybrushed various shades on the stone road . it looked good but not finished. I looked over and saw the tree. The logical is that leaves fall from the tree!!!! so i misted some 3M spray adhesive and springled some kitchen spicies mix (mint, oregano, parsley all dried) after theyr dry on the road i passes 3 different colours of pigments from dark tan to almost white. Before the leaves i also had treated a cover of dark brown pigment. I sealed all that with Talons pastel fixative spray

Wampam : The figures are from Spanish manufacturer ANDREA, that makes superb figures in metal I purchased them in Greece. All of their figures are great

Robster : The grass is from HEKI Railroad Wildgrass

Kev. As u saw Heki did its miracle and it coninued it on the Russian dio as u will see in a minute !!!!!!. All the woodlands also are more than great to use. I am addicted to all theze small bags. i think i d soon have to come over there with a huge case to fill it up !!!!!!!

Thanks

Absolutely wonderful work. If you keep producing work like this, I fully expect to be buying How to Build Dioramas by Brother Costas.

Keep up the good work.

Costas,

Wonderful work, great detail, and you did a fantastic job with the kids. Groundwork has so much detail each time I look at the pictures I see something new. You have a great story to recreate and you are doing the handsomely.
