Just a quick post, probably in the wrong zone, but what the heck..?
As an armour nut with an interest in all things associated with that Vietnam conflict, I've long been looking for a decent UH1 Slick.
The MRC UH1 Gunship Hueys have been around for some time and are supposed to be pretty good (I've yet to buy or build one though... opinions posted here gratefully received)
The old Revell UH1H is, well, an ooooooold Revell kit with all that suggests...
My guess is that combining the best bits of the Revell kit with the relevant bits cannabilised from a donor MRC kit would be an exercise in masochism I wouldn't want to inflict on myself, disregarding the the 1/32 to 1/35 scale difference.
I've heard that a company called Panda is releasing a UH1D Huey in both Slick and Gunship versions :-) which is Very Nice, but so far all I've heard is a rumour
If anyone has any news of this new offering, I'd love to hear it!
Failing that, opinions on the utility or futility of trying the MRC / Revell kitbash...

Okay, time to hit the glue bottle...

I've never heard of Panda. ?
Have you looked into Academy's line of choppers? I don't know much about them but they do make a few including UH-1C Heuy "Frog'. You can see it here: Academy 1/35 Helicopters

Given MRC's nice Kiowa and Sea Cobra, I bet their Huey is nice and probably builds into a nice slick. I've seen them kicking around for about $25-30.

I snagged all three MRC Huey's and even built most of 2 of them before the MADD kicked in and I was dragged off to another project..
They are all C model ships and most of the troop carrying 'slicks' were D models. From what I remember finding after I bought them, this would not be an easy conversion.

sorry, still they're pretty nice kits and there is hope since Trumpeter is doing a Hip and Hind in 1/35 that they might take up the challenge at a later date.

Hi I'm a rotor nutter too, I'm a nutter he's anutter, she's anutter too....oops sorry, got carried away there! Anyways, THe Slick, has been my major disappointment in ten years of modelling. They ALL did the C version, and never the slick D. There is one from Revell, but it is in 1/32nd, and contains a loach as well, listed as helicopter patrol, these will reuire some work. More in fact than I'm prepared to dish out. I have the set and I am going to sell it off, anyone interested can let me know. Hopfeully....... somwhere over the rainbow, oops there I go again, now jack you stop that you hear!!
